Comics Thunderbolts #120 preview (the Green Goblin returns!)

I picked up this Issue today and wow, it defenitley was great! Norman Osborn was fed up with people treating him sort of bad, so seeing him kick butt as the Goblin was so awesome. From dialogue to the action scenes, it was so enjoyable. Also, seeing Swordsman pinned to the wall in a Jesus type way so shocking. Another thing, when the Green Goblin said "I am god! HA HA HA HA!", that line proved how psychotic he is. I can't wait for the next Issue.

How come Gobby doesn't have any pants??

You mean as the Goblin, right?

Its part of Ramos's redesign from a few years ago. I like the old costume better, myself. Why the hell would Norman put knee pads on his costume?

And I know its a knitpicky, fanboy complaint, but the costume that Norman wore when he killed Gwen was destroyed years ago. It was destroyed after Harry wore it and Peter defeated him. This one couldnt possibly smell like death, blonds and victory.

The battle between Norman and Swordsman practically sent shivers down my spine:

Maybe as a part of the Mephisto deal that costume was restored and morphed into the Humberto Ramos re-design... lol ;)

He never said it smelled like "death, Gwen Stacy, and victory." That reporter he dropped off his glider into a lake was blonde. Who knows how many other blondes he's killed? Maybe he has a thing for them :o

Ok, this issue was just all sorts of awesome, I had been worried that Ellis wouldn't pull Norman off right but this payoff was definately worth it. Since his first issue when norman had bullseye in a cold sweat of fear I loved the characterization but became afraid he was going to get played as a chump by moonstone or something.

I've got a theory as to what the telepaths are doing. They're regressing the personalities of the people. Swordsman is the prime example. He went from seeking redemption, to nazi, and now to adolescent. Just my theory though.

The only thing I don't like is it seems like they're going to have Penanceball save the day. Groan.

I need a book to pick up sense the tragedy that was the Deadpool cancellation. I loved Thunderbolts back when it first came out, so I think I'll give this a shot again.

I'm not sure anyone treats Osborn badly, not if they want to live. More likely he was just P.O.'ed that things were falling apart.

In norman's mind only himself and peter parker are worthy beings, everyone else is just an incompetant in his way. Though his line about hiring morons as guards was great.

Yup, definitely! This is why he's my favorite villain. :gg:

The reporter from the Pulse #1???

I thought she was a brunnette??

I looooove the new costume design and the way Deodato designs it.
It has that classic but updated feel to it. With Norman being rich and all it was a good decision to give him armor.
Great monologue.
This is EXACTLY why Norman is the best villian...EVER. and I hate sins past but that shows just how messed up he was. (would have liked it soooo much better if Gwen wasn't willing but I guess that wouldn't be able to print.)

Yeah... if Gwen had been a Norman rape victim, that would have just enhanced his villainy and would have made the story a LOT more palatable (sic) to many readers.

Oh definitely.
Peter and Gwen never did anything...
why would she ever suddenly mess around with norman osborn of all people? that just never flew with me...

When I read this arc..I could definitely tell it was set up to be Peter. The way his actions were in the beginning was very ambiguous. in fact the way he was acting was more like...omg how am i going to tell my wife i have 2 kids? instead of it being she cheated on me...i think if it was the latter he would have had tears while sitting on top of that building in that scene with his mask off after reading gwens letter.

than suddenly the story took a sudden turn with peter telling Mj him and gwen never did anything, and it turns out it was norman.

I have really been enjoying this title ever since the new team was formed and that Green Goblin issue was freakin' fantastic. Ellis did a picture perfect job of building the momentum of the Goblin's return. We knew it was going to happen but just not in what capacity. This was definitely a good way to go about it.

I thought of Lex Luthor too when he made the president comment, heh. But other than that there was nothing Luthor about it. It was Norman Osborn being absolutely insane and doing his Green Goblin thing.

I can't wait for next issue. And, as always, Deodato's artwork is perfect for this title.

Could have done without the Sins Past reference though, haha.

I somehow can see Norman running for President within the next year, possibly to coincide with the 2008 US elections coming in November. I know it screams DC, but how ^#&'ed up would it be to have Norman Osborn as President of the United States?

:wow: :wow: :wow:

:yay:

At this point it is kind of possible. I mean they have him overseeing the Thunderbolts and with the registration act his past crimes won't matter. At least that is what I think the registration act is about barring he doesn't lose it again. But you can't count it out, heh.

But President Goblin does have a nice ring to it, huh?

I'd vote for him, I've got a soft spot for meglomanical genius madmen with a penchant for chemistry. Plus way I figure if the Green Goblin's president that's about the end of any country ****ing with us.

Wow, what an utter waste of 6 entire pages of comic book.

I'm glad Amazing doesn't waste time these days.
