Tim Burton and Shane Acker's new movie: "9"

The chick that wrote Corpse Bride wrote the screenplay.

Well, she wrote another cliche action movie. I swear, you can guess the whole movie within seconds.

My mother watches them. I cannot look away. They film their episodes with the worst camcorders avalible. The sound is off, the shots are wonky. The plots are always the same.

And you spend the entire hour going about how anyone could make something this boring and dull....which is what I was doing the entire movie. Trying to like it...but midway through I just gave up. I let the machine suck my soul into the screen. Meh.

I'm seeing it tomorrow, most likely. I'm basically going in just to see the animation because I loved the short version. If it's more than that, dandy. If it's not, then hey, at least it'll be pretty and hopefully entertaining.

Fooling you with nicely edited trailers and a bunch of name actors that don't really do anything in their roles sort of like the worst of the latest CG animated features.

This was based on a 10 minute short with no dialogue. Studios of course said NO WAY WE CAN DO THAT FOR A MOVIE. Look what happens. What's the point of getting Academy Award level talent to voice characters that do so little?

Corpse Bride was OK, but I mean . . . it was no Nightmare. Fairly short and forgettable movie with only one really inspired sequence.

I really enjoyed this movie, saw it last night. like many have said there wasnt much need for the award winning actors, but it was a really well done movie imo. A little fastforwarded at parts but I imagine thats due to the cost of animation.

I saw the film on Wednesday and I loved it, the story says allot without the characters saying much, 9.5/10!!!:D:up:

And what exactly does the story say?

I'm not one for long winded reviews, you don't really sound like you wanna hear one, and frankly I'm not gonna waste my time!!!:o:oldrazz:
But I'll give you a few comments, I found it interesting how the scientist who created the machines tried to redeem himself by paying with his life, how mankind seems to use any gift of creation to do nothing but destroy, and how the different parts of the scientist's personalities were reflected in the 9 themselves, at times conflicted while at others united!!!
These are just some of the themes I gathered from it and enjoyed among others!!!
:o;)

Ok. But what did you get out of the story itself? Those are themes within the story....but what about the story of "A little stichbot rises, uses a circle thing to awake a horrible machine, only to have it wreak havoc and kill most of the cast. Now 9 and his 9 bots must destroy it."

Deeeeeep.

Dude, we get it you didn't like it, it wasn't Gone with the wind, it was a 1 hour and 19 minute animated film, but I enjoyed the characters and the way they were portrayed and yes I enjoyed the story itself, lets just agree to disagree and move on!!!:o:)

No thanks. I'll keep discussing the movie until i'm done. And theres not a damn thing you can do about it.

I love Tim Burton and I also loved the original short film of 9, but in all honesty, I just couldn't get into the feature length film at all. I just... didn't get it. It was short, but it still managed to drag things out too long. The fight scenes were cool and the setting and tone of the movie were great, but... I don't know. I really didn't like anything else about it.
I think some of that is because of Pamela Pettler. I don't like her writing. I think Corpse Bride would've been better without her. And at least we wouldn't have Monster House.

i hate too say this... it really pains me...
but this movie sucked.

I avoided seeing Whiteout because it looked extremely boring... however this movie was even more bland. Its a shame because it looks so pretty. It had a cool concept with the whole different personalities of the soul... but thats as deep as the movie goes lol.

i guess ill go see whiteout to attempt to wash this bland taste this movie left.

Alrighty. Have a nice life then. Dont let the door hit you on the way out..yadda yadda...GTFO.

I'm sorry Celtic but saying that you really do sound like a whiny immature spoiled little *****.

What happened to the Hype...too many damn sensitive people and people that just like to start **** rather than have real arguments here now days.

i liked this film also... sure it was lacking at times.. but it was good

I would agree, I just got to the point of putting people on ignore because of the rampant lack of tact and mutual respect. It's just a message board, but still...
