We're on a ****ing movie forum. If we're not discussing movies, then why the hell are we here?
No. "Discussing a movie," is different from "if you liked the movie, I am going to challenge you and argue with you."
Your first reaction towards the first person who expressed any like for the movie was an aggressive one. You might have been pointing out specific instances in the movie to make it SEEM like it's still a "movie discussion," but you were still essentially saying: "How dumb of you to have missed this... Now, let me point it out to you, and if you can't provide a satisfying argument against it, then HAH, I was right all along."
It's one thing to discuss the artistic merits of the movie. Or its score. Or the acting. But it's another to use these "discussions" to undermine another human being's enjoyment (or lack thereof) of a movie. You can say: "I think...," "My opinion is...," etc., ad nauseum. That's okay. There's no need to impose these opinions and perceptions on others who don't want it. Have you ever thought that maybe there
isn't a counter-argument to the crap you're spewing? I mean, I still enjoy Looney Tunes here and there, but if ever turn the same critical eye you're using for 9 towards Bugs and crew, I'm sure I can argue how bad they are from many aesthetic standpoints, as well.
Some people liked it. You don't. You can probably reply to the people with a differing opinion without making it a challenge to their intelligence. You shouldn't need their failure to dissuade you from your opinion to affirm yours. At least one would hope.
