Tim Burton to Direct Amy Adams/Christoph Waltz in "Big Eyes"

That didn't do Leo much good. :woot:

that was leo's fourth nomination as an actor. best actor tends to prefer veterans (unless you are adrien brody in the pianist) but best actress field prefers the young/babe gals. also, the best actor field is always more competitive than best actress.

if amy gets nominated this year, it will be her sixth. that's a very strong narrative.

swank and witherspoon might get the "welcome back" nominations but i doubt they will win. pike will get the newcomer slot. if amy gets the nod, her biggest competition will come from chastain (she has like 1000 films coming out this year so i don't know which one she'll go lead) or michelle (i know people are doubting her film right now. but hey you never know!). i'm not worried binoche.

Hopefully... Weinstein can definitely go for the "overdue" card with her. The early screening reactions said though that Adams' character is a quiet one (aka not Oscar baity) and Waltz completely stole the show so I could see Adams getting nominated and losing yet again.

i remember the screen reaction was that adams was very good but her role was not as baity as waltz's walter keane.

well her character is supposed to be quiet..... margaret is a shy woman.

her ex-husband (waltz) was a crazy man.

numerous sources all claimed the script is good. so it all comes down to burton's direction. c'mon tim! dont fail amy! get her the oscar!!:hrt:

Amy is fantastic, I'll be seeing this mainly for her.

The plot and Burton's direction have me intrigued too, though.

Wow this looks good. Guess Christmas day will be a double feature for me; this and Into the Woods.

:funny:

No Depp or Helena Bonham Carter.

Oh. I see. It is a secret role. I get it. I don't know why they can't just reveal his involvement. I don't get the whole "I have to be super secret" behind some directors.

I'll be honest, I was shocked too. I think Burton realized that he need to reevaluate his career a bit, and make a more subdued movie that didn't realize on his usual - and dare I say, semi-lazy- troupes. He was just too comfortable for the best decade and thank GOD he's making Big Eyes. Something different, something out of his comfort zone that can make us believe that he still has it in him.

I just want another Burton movie of Sweeney Todd quality. It's been too long.

Frankenweenie was great, even if I still prefer the live-action short.

Couldn't they find Amy a better wig? (sorry these are the places my mind goes)

Amy Adams AND Krysten Ritter in one movie? I don't think my body can handle it...
