Time Masters: Vanishing Point

This sounds idiotic. It's DC trying to milk Bruce's return and try to turn it into an event. Did they learn nothing from Countdown to Final Crisis? Trying to use a different author to write a companion piece to Morrison's books doesn't work.

My thoughts exactly. It really just seems DC is trying to milk every penny out of RoBW. Not to mention why on earth isn't Tim Drake on this team? Ah well it's not like i care lol. :p

This seems like it would've made more sense if the team involved were better. Superman I get because he's Batman's best friend. Rip Hunter I get because he's the guy to see about time travel. But instead of Booster and Hal, I would've much rather seen Waverider and/or the Linear Men and Tim Drake. Granted, they might be involved, but usually if a character's not plastered all over the cover of a comic, they're not going to get much page time.

I don't mind Booster being there since he's linked to Rip Hunter (I think...I don't read his ongoing) but Hal's a bit of an odd choice.

Eh, I still don't really think of Booster as a time cop. That direction for him feels really temporary and a bit awkward. Plus, personally, I'd prefer to see Waverider and the Linear Men working with Rip again.

I'm not really too familiar with them...I have vague memories of them being in 52, I think?

They appeared a bit with Superman in the early '00s (although I think the Linear Men originated pre-Crisis). The Linear Men were a group of time travelers who went through time trying to fix paradoxes and anomalies and such. They met Waverider, a guy who was turned into living tachyons (a.k.a. magic macguffin time travel particles) in the Armageddon: 2001 event, and it turned out that the leader of the Linear Men was another timeline's Matthew Ryder, the same guy who became Waverider. They initially clashed, but they realized their goals were the same--to protect the timestream--so they teamed up and made Vanishing Point their HQ. Rip Hunter was once a member of the Linear Men, although I think as of Booster Gold, he took it upon himself to shut the Linear Men down for some reason.

Booster policing the time stream could very well be the most out-of-left-field character arc ever.

I don't hate it but it is incredibly odd and random

I mean, they had a 52 issue set-up for it. And he is from the future.

I know. But going by his past characterisation it just doesn't feel like a natural fit. To me anyway

I don't mind it, but it's just weird that it's stayed limited to just Rip and Booster. They introduced Goldstar and she did exactly bupkis before disappearing. Booster could certainly stick around, but I'd prefer to see Rip back with the Linear Men and Waverider with maybe some guest appearances now and then by other time-related characters like Chronos and the android Hourman. That would be an awesome series.
