So, if it isn't common knowledge by now, DareDevil season 1 takes place before Jessica Jones season 1, but after the Avengers.
So, it could be taking place at the same time as any of the phase 2 films, though it's unclear which.
Now with season 2 coming up, I'm going under the impression that it will be taking place at the same time as the events of Jessica Jones season 1. That would be the only explanation as to how Matt Murdock was not involved at all in the Alias storyline adaptation.
Matt watches the news. He literally hears a lot, a lot, a lot of what's going on in Hell's Kitchen every single night. His friend's friend who is a cop got mind controlled at a police station. So the only way Matt would've done nothing to try and do something about the Purple Man dilemma, is if he was already preoccupied with his own issues (Punisher) and didn't even get to get in on the Purple Man stuff because of it.
