Anyone have any idea how many days the film takes place over?

I think it's a few weeks again (between X1 and X2 it was three weeks, so I guess it's quite similar), most things in the movie speak for that.

Why three weeks ? I think that between X1 and X2 is about a month and a couple of days...

It's supposed to be around 8 months between X2 and X3.

Kinberg or Penn mentioned it in their Q&As. Their credibility may have been stretched of late, but that seems like a sinsible estimate.

No I meant how many days that the events in X3 take place over...not the gap between X2 and this one.

I think it's more than 3. They have enough time to have a funeral in the middle of the film. Enough time to discover a cure has developed, and have it put out into the public field for people to line up and take it. I think the timeline could well be weeks.

It's supposed to be around 8 months between X2 and X3.

Not nearly long enough for someone to get over the death of their girlfriend or fiancee, yet Xavier seems to think Scott has completely lost it for still being upset and needs to be replaced.

I would say around 4-5 days. So in that context Scott's death isn;t really that early. Jean's only a couple of days behind him.

DAY 1: Hank talks of Cure, Scott goes to lake and dies. Mystique frees Juggs. Tells of Cure.
DAY 2: Jean found at lake, leaves. Followed to her home. Xavier dies. Iceman and Pyro at the mutant cure clinic. Mystique captured and cured.
Day 3: Jean with the brotherhood in the woods. Iceman with Kitty iceskating.
DAY 4: Golden Gate. Alcatraz
DAY 5: memorial for fallen heroes
