I remember being slightly scared when I bought a PS2 when it first came out. There was a line that ran outside the store and around the block and I could've sworn I was going to be jumped.

Then there's the time I had an outer-body experience when I was robbed at knife point in a taxi in Caracas. That was a really big knife.

The time I was robbed. The first time I helped perform surgery. The last time I helped perform surgery. Every time in between those two. The time I almost drowned. That time Bill Murray and I fought off polar bears with borrowed toothbrushes. The time I stupidly rushed out into the street and was nearly killed, just to catch a bus. The time I crashed my bike and busted my face up. Every time I've had to go to the hospital. That other time I almost drowned.

2 years ago I was sitting in my car smoking a spliff one late night. There was an immense fog on my street, and I could make out the silhouettes of people running down the streets and playing. When I got out of the car I noticed something strange, I was the only one on my street and the people would only seem to reappear if the fog was strong.

The time I thought I had colon cancer. The brief moment I thought my grandparents might be dead when my mom sent me to go check on them when they weren't answering the phone.

The time when I noticed my dog is behaving weird, I rushed him of to the vet (it was like 3 am) and I was scared something bad would happen to him. Got to the vet in time.

But he died, two hours later.

Playing Silent Hill.

When I lost my job last year. Very dark time, that was.

what a downer, I at least hoped there would be a happy ending. Sorry about your dog man, that would **** me up.

Probably the worst time of my life, but there was nothing we could do no more. Really loved him but you know, what can you do? I just hope his doing fine now and his happy wherever he is :)

When I thought a girlfriend was pregnant for three months (ex now lmfao).

When I thought I had testicular cancer for about a week.

From 1998 to the beginning of 2000. Became extremely ill and near death until I was diagnosed with Wegener's Granulomatosis, a rare type of vasculitis. Went on high dose steriods and oral chemo, got a little better, but then found out the disease had caused chronic kidney failure and had to go on dialysis.

6 months in to dialysis, getting tested for a transplant, and the doctors found a growth on my lung, which they had to remove. When I woke up from the surgery, I couldn't breathe, and when I inhaled it felt like someone was shoving a knife into my side. Never been more frightened.

Surgery revealed that I had relapsed and had to go on another 6 months of dialysis and more oral chemo. Finally had a transplant in December '99 from my mom, and have had it ever since. That whole time I've never been more scared, and nothing scares me more then going through it again.

This is goofy but I was horrified:

4 years ago in the middle of the night I woke up sweating, feeling hot, sweltering, my head pounding, I could barely move, could not see, in fact could barely breath and at the same time I was hearing this super loud really gravelly demon voice ranting about flames after the spring equinox or some crap. None of it made any sense as I was only half awake. I felt really dizzy and coulding grasp my bearings and the voice was getting louder. I was terrified, this went on for about a minute and half but then...I heard the calm welcoming voice of George Noory. I had forgotten that I had fallen asleep waiting for Coast to Coast AM to come on. Noory was playing some recording someone had sent him. I had gotten twisted up in my blankets and was hanging half way off the bed. I of course figured this out once I had a bit of context for everything, until I heard George Noory I was freaking the hell out. like I said, very goofy.

When one of my friends had a freak out. We had just finished high school, still really naive and silly and we wanted to celebrate. We went to my other friend's farm and had a night of drinking and one of my friends passed out. Ha, what a laugh.

Except he wasn't. We helped him into the tent and suddenly he sprang alive. He couldn't recognize any of us and started screaming this really horrible sound. He thought we were trying to rape him. He was wild, eyes huge and breathing fast.

He was violently thrashing around and I ran to my friend's house to get help from his mother. When she got back he was still screaming, saying that he wished he was dead. He was crying.

We somehow got him to go to sleep. The scariest part was the way my friends mother said we should remove all broken glass and cutlery from around the campsite because he could wake up and in the night and hurt one of us. This is one of my friends from High School we're talking about.

The next morning he was fine, but ill. I could have killed him for being so calm the morning after. I still don't know what set him off. I've never seen alcohol do that to a person.

Watching my friend jump off the roof of the gym into the outdoor pool.

Currently living without health insurance.

Like, genuinely scared? Probably the time I saw my grandpa's ghost.

Another time was probably when my sister had a bunch of friends over. She was 18 and all her friends were older. It was the first time my sister invited over this one girl, Jennifer, and everything was cool until her dad, drunk off his ass, came to get her to take her home. My dad was there (this was well after my mom randomly moved out on us in the middle of the night) and watching TV in the living room, I was toy room when I heard a commotion, and "get the hell out of my house, you piece of ****!". Apparently my dad had touched/talked to the other guys daughter while she was over. Which isn't true in the slightest, granted my dad didn't talk to anyone, and was only there for the last 5 minutes of her being there. She even later confessed that she made it up. Drunk off his ass, the dad grabs my dad by the throat which made me freak the **** out. My screaming triggered EVERYONE to come inside. My sister, being the Spawn of Satan that she is went into instant "Must destory you" mode, grabs the guy by the jacket and literally about rips him off my dad. Tim, one of the other party-goers finishes the job by grabbing the guy and throwing him out of our house. My dad was fine, a little shaken. The other dad gets up and tries to come at him again, but Tim pushes him back and a bunch of people came to hold the guy down. Everyone there was literally on our side about it, because my dad was "that dad". Not a dick, but still strict. Would let you stay over if you needed a place too.

Well, this girl, seeing all what happened, started going complete ape-**** at the site of HER dad being held down by a bunch of college kids. So in return, she runs over there kicking and screaming. My sister and everyone else wasn't having that. So, my sister still hoped up on anger and adrenaline, beat the **** out of her and asked her why she was a lying *****. It was great.

Scary as **** at first, but great at the end. Of course my dad didn't go and kick the guys ass while he was being held down, he just got an ice-pack, put it on his neck, and went back to watching his show.

I had a similar experience. My friend and I were out trick or treating. We were both admittedly too old, around 14 years old. Near the end of the night we noticed some big guy in a mask was following us. Terrrified we ran up to the third level of an apartment building and waited for him to pass through the building. We then noticed that we had trapped ourselves. So I nearly pissed myself waiting for this guy to follow us up stairs. After waiting a while we decided it was time to make a run for it and we agreed to split up and run home. I never ran so fast in my life.

Needless to say, I never went trick or treating again.
