Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy

There was a sneak preview yesterday at the theater I go to at college and I missed it. Goddamn my luck.

I think I might see this on Sunday.

Damn cousin (who's English) saw it on the plane home from visiting here -_-

Wow, amazing movie. The montage at the end with La Mer. <3

Movie of the year in my opinion.

My only complaint was the ending seemed rushed. I would have liked to see a longer dialogue between Smiley and Haydon after the reveal.

I haven't seen it yet...

:csad:

Saw it today. Gotta let it soak in more.

I need to see it again. Just so I can focus on the aspects that confused me that much more. Such a well made film though, I loved the cinematography. Very well set up and professional looking.

Also, shame on the Academy if they ignore Oldman, I thought he was brilliant. In fact, the whole cast did a phenomenal job.

Yeah, some things were a bit confusing in the plot. But the performances were stellar. Oldman was excellent.

I saw it a while back. Great movie but it was longer than it should. Gary was amazing although I understand why he's being ignored for the awards (it's too silent of a role). My 2nd favorite performance was Cumberbatch.

Just found out that the old theater in my town just got this in. I'm seeing this **** tomorrow!

I'm seeing it for the 2nd time today. I've heard it gets better on 2nd viewing which makes me super excited since I f***ing loved it the first time around!

It was a good movie, but it had some flaws in it, I actually thought the ending needed to be 10 minutes longer, and the "anxiety/suspense" some scenes should of had, they did not. But overall good movie.

slow, hard to follow, rushed ending, but good performances. tom hardy was a particular stand-out. but i didn't really care for it. 5/10

I'm in the same boat with you, once you get to the end of this convoluted plot you get no sense of suspense or urgency of what's going on, by the end you don't get anything out of knowing who the mole was.
I give it a 6/10...and that's being generous.

I enjoyed it. Very sparse minimalist movie. Some good performances.

I see how the plot and the way it was shot could be an issue for some people.

I liked how the spy game was more of an amoral, ambiguous world. It was like a chess match where you are collecting the pieces and what not.

This movie was a bit of a mess, but I still liked what it tried to do with its style.

Did nobody get that...
Smilie was Karla? He orchestrated everything for Control's position. He was the SPY.

I noticed the same thing, especially towards the end when they're trapping the mole. That part should've had me at the edge of my seat, but was too slow-moving to do so. The movie also started off rather slowly, but those are my only complaints. I really loved this movie and all the actors in it, especially Oldman. The plot could be confusing at times but that only makes me want to watch it again.

That would be genius if true. :funny:

I believe it is. Consider the facts:
We don't really get to know Smilie. He's a guy who was forced out of the job. He tells of a story of a man who he thinks is the mole, but we don't ever see it in the flashbacks. He uses the fib that Karla stole his lighter to thwart any suspicion on him because if someone noticed the lighter at the cafe, they would just assume it was Karla's (that might be over-thinking, sorry). The man who Smilie ends up putting in the slammer was the man who screwed his wife; he had every vendetta against him

What a gorgeous, gorgeous film. The way it's shot is so perfectly matched with its subject matter. Wonderful film. Everyone kills their roles, but damn, Oldman really is on fire as Smiley.
