tmnt game pics..

Is Turtles: Mutant Nightmare for the PS2 any good? I'm in a total Turtles mood. I know it got a pretty low score, but some games can be fun anyway.

It's mindless button mashing fun....if you played the first one, then you know what to expect.:yay:

Well... that doesn't sound all too great. I loathed the first game.

Then chances are, you wouldn't like Mutant Menace either.

They get a little monotonous.:csad:

I don't have anything against a monotone game. Ghost Rider had nothing but fighting and riding his bike, but it was just mindless fun.

The first Turtles game though felt just weak. I'm trying to find some gameplay footage to see how the game's like. I found only the intro so far, and it did look amazing.

Yeah it is button mashing, but you gain stuff you didnt in the others.

I personally like Mutant Nightmare the best. As it reminds me of X-Men Legends. It has a sort-of-RPG feel to it. Whereas you gain crystals(as in the others) but get to use them to buy and power up your Turtles. Such as new combo moves, new special attacks(altho theres only 2), and other little things.

Can you tell me a little more about Mutant Nightmare? Like how's the gameplay? I recently got to play Battle Nexus, and it was probably the most clunky and unresponsive game I've ever played.

Got my hand son Mutant Nightmare. And as I suspected, It sucks ass.

But I'm playing now the TMNT Demo on my PC. It seriously makes a lot of fun. I can't wait till the game hits the shelves.

Ok, the game comes out next week, and I personally can't wait.

I look forward to playing this, and truly hope that it doesn't end up sucking. With the amount of unlockables and ninjitsu moves and attacks, it should provide some great fun.

I better not be wrong since I'm going against my norm, and am going to buy it before playing it.:csad:

Here's the link to the PC Demo. It has the first stage playable. So you can see whether you'll like it or not.

Btw, what are the unlockables you speak of?

Actually it comes out in 2 weeks, not next week.

The unlockables i believe include storyboards for both the game and movie. i think certain clips from the movie, bonus costumes(like Cowabunga Carl and Nigh****cher). I'd have to go back and watch the one video link where Nick Harper talks about them(it should be posted on the first page of this thread)

All the sites say the release date is the 12/13th, that's next week.

Am I missing an article saying it is released a week later?

Gamefaqs has release dates for the 20th in the US, 22nd in AU and the 23rd in the EU.

Hands-on by IGN.

March 5, 2007 - While the lion may be the king of the animal kingdom, the world of the reptiles is ruled not by snakes, Gila Monsters or even giant, acid-spewing frogs with a sword for a tongue, but rather turtles. Well, at least the four that managed to wander into some glowing ooze as wee toddlers and gained the abilities of bipedal walking, advanced intelligence, speech and, most importantly, a mastery of the martial arts.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are making a comeback this year in a big way, both with a full-length motion picture due out later this month as well as a videogame release that will coincide with the film's release. Ubisoft's TMNT is a mix of action-based combat and platforming, the latter of which looks a lot like it was taken from one of its other franchises, the Prince of Persia series.

The game is clearly aimed at younger gamers, what with its simplistic control setup and inability to die. That's right, should you fail to live up to Splinter's hopes and fall in battle, you need only mash on the X button in order to pull your strength together and head right back into the fight. Fall off the edge of a cliff and you'll appear only a hundred feet or so away to try that jump again. And no, there's no difficulty setting or anything of this sort to change this. Remember back in the day when games were actually hard?

The story of TMNT is told via comic book overlays with voiceovers - the game unfortunately doesn't utilize movie footage for any of its cutscenes. You aren't given control over which turtle you're in control of. This is dictated by the section of the game and which turtle was doing what at that time. Rather than being together at all times, the story in TMNT sees the turtles largely out on their own.

Level progression generally has you do a short bit of platforming, then stop to fight a few waves of enemies, then more platforming, and rinse and repeat a handful of times. From what we've seen thus far, there aren't any sections that tie together both combat and fighting - all of the combat takes place in pre-designated areas that are blocked off and mostly devoid of obstacles of any sort.

Combat mechanics are very basic - Circle attacks, Triangle kicks and any of the shoulder buttons will block. You can dodge by holding block and then moving the left analog stick or jump in the air and hit the attack button to perform and area attack. There's also a bit where if you can manage to take out 10 enemies in a row, you'll enter a powered-up state where you'll get one-hit kills for a short period of time. Really though, the combat is about as simplistic as possible. You don't seem to have all that many combos so you're constantly repeating the same moves over and over again. Enemies come in waves, so when you kill one another appears until they're all dead. In other words, it's already gotten fairly repetitive.

Each level has a running timer, and at the end of the level you're judged on how many in-level coins you collect, how well you did in combat and how quickly you completed the level. Depending on how well you do, you'll earn a number of turtle coins that you can use to buy unlockable power-ups and such, like a big-head option for each of the turtles and so forth.

Another way to earn some of these coins is in the challenge areas, which you unlock by beating each of the game's main levels. These levels look like they're taken straight out of Tron and test your acrobatic or combatant skills to see how quickly you can complete them. They're actually reasonable and short fun, and certainly more of a challenge than the standard game.

As we haven't seen the movie yet, we can't comment on how well TMNT holds up to the movie so far, but strictly as an action game it really only looks suited for younger gamers. That somewhat unfortunate as there are a ton of 20 and 30-something gamers out there who would love a mature Turtles game, but this doesn't look like it. Still, we're going to hold out on our full opinion until we've managed to work all the way through the game, so stay tuned for our full review in the coming weeks.

Good read.

I was looking at Amazon and it says the 13th, and it's usually pretty accurate...but Best Buy says the 20th.

Who knows..all these websites goof up the dates alot.

It's a little sad to hear how simple the game is..maybe the Wii controls will make it play better...but who knows, I just might wait to read a review or two.

It might be simple, but it's already worlds beyond the games Konami gave us. And those games weren't exactly deep either. I've been playing the Demo for a while and it really makes fun. At first, the fact that TMNT only has predetermined sections of enemy waves, might sound bad, but after having played the first Turtles game on my PC again, I welcome it.

Nothing is more boring than fighting enemy waves after wave, with one and the same combo.

That is quite true.:yay:

I called my Gamestop here just out of curiosity, and they said it is still slated to reach them sometime between the 13th and 15th.

I'm hoping this is true.

I'll have to try the demo out tonight when I get home though.

Thats kinda funny, cause their site says the 20th(so does their new sister EB)

So, did you get around to play demo?

Not yet, this week has been slamma jamma for me...I haven't had much time to do anything on the computer or games after work.

It's frustrating because I really want to try it.:csad:

Just talked to a friend of mine at Gamestop again, and what he said was that the game is released next week, but the stree date isn't until the 20th...so they are going to be sitting on the games for a week and he isn't allowed to sell me one until then.

I am very angry at this news.:cmad:

Well, then you know what you have to do. Use your Ninja skills and get your hands on that game no matter the cost.

Holy... I just prevented a major disaster.

I got my hands on the PS2 version of the game, but didn't get to play it yet because I met some friends. As I went home and approached my front door I suddenly saw my sister. Ready to leave and telling my she's taking my PS2 with her.

Me:  "NO."

Sister: "But we need something to play our music on."

Me: "NO."
