To Wii or Not to Wii

that being said, the top games on my list so far are (not in order):

*Wii Sports
*Mario Kart
*Brawl
*Wii Fit

can yall recommend some other games for me to check out? i saw someone recommended resident evil, and web of shadows. how bout some other titles?

I'd recommend Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Warioware, Twilight Princess, and Mario Strikers.

I'm still pissed that this isn't coming to the states for Wii. :cmad:

But hopefully they can get the license issue settled and actually do it.

The Wii is a fantastic casual gaming machine. My aunt and uncle just got one for the kids in the family this Christmas and it was really fun playing it with everyone. However thats about as far as the Wii is worth IMO. If you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, the Wii wont cut it, at all. If you feel you are going to want to play games on more than a casual basis i suggest you save up for one of the other two systems, either the PS3 or 360.

I disagree. If a hardcore gamer looks past the graphics because even though Nintendo has been really disappointing since E3, they really have catered to the hardcore crowd as well by releasing almost all of their major franchises:

- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
- Super Paper Mario
- Mario Kart Wii
- Wario Land: Shake It!

Plus a GameCube port of the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and various Mario Sports titles like Mario Super Sluggers and Mario Strikers Charged and an updated Mario Power Tennis.

There will also be another Legend of Zelda game and Pikmin 3 which is in the works. Another installment in Mario Golf (and probably Mario Hoops) to complete the Mario Sports franchise. Punch-Out!! is coming out in spring. Sin and Punishment 2 is actually being made.

Third parties have also given us some rather great titles as well.

Capcom has treated the Wii very well with the Resident Evil series. The Wii version of Resident Evil 4 is the best version of the game and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is a rather cool rail shooter. And I wouldn't be suprised to see Resident Evil 2 and 3 be remade for the Wii. They're also putting Monster Hunter 3 and Dead Rising on the console.

Square-Enix is putting the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series on the Wii and Dragon Quest X. Namco-Bandai is putting their Tales series on the Wii. Sega has made the Wii Sonic the Hedgehog's new home and MadWorld looks to have a lot of potential. And Suda 51 made No More Heroes for the Wii.

Even though the Wii's focus is casual gamers, hardcore gamers really have nothing to complain about. People who are complaining are the type that want everything to come out all at once.

Yeah, honestly, I dont know how all these hardcore gamers have the time to play these games. I generally only one game every few months, a month separation at least. Meanwhile the Xbox had like 50 FPS's released for Christmas.:o

But hey, if I had that much time to play videogames, I definitely would, and even for me the second half of last year was pretty bland for the Wii.

another big plus for the wii is gamecube games. I had a xbox and ps2 before, but never a gamecube. there are tons of great gamecube games that can be found used for less than 20 bucks. I'm playing metal gear solid twin snakes right now, and it's pretty sweet.

If you want casual games the Wii is your system. It has a number of "hardcore" games which are small enough to turn of hardcore gamers (I mean the ones who buy new games every week), but if you only buy new games every few months (like myself) it is fine. Or you can stick with casual games.

Wii party games I recommend:

-Wii Sports (obviously)
-Mario Kart Wii
-Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
-Rock Band (if you can afford it)

Gamer's games:
-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Super Mario Galaxy (I actually REALLY recommend this to casual's looking for something new)
-Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
-No More Heroes
-Okami
-The Godfather: Blackhand Edition
-Resident Evil 4 (though I still only play the Gamecube version, I hear good things of the Wii version)

And one game that appeals to both, possibly making it the perfect Wii game:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Hope that helps.
