Tobey's crying

at the construction site when harry dies, peter was crying,mj was crying , i was crying

A couple of dudes lauGhed in my show, just a couple. That typical pseudo macho attitude, "OMG HES CRYING WHAT A GAY LAWL".

I didn't find those scenes funny at all. I really felt for Pete at the breakup on the bridge. I never bought into his pain as much as I did in the other movies though, for example the 'talk' with uncle Ben in Spidey 2, that was heartbreaking.

Tobey looks very strage with the quivering lip action, people in my cinema were rolling with laughter at both the break up and Harry death scenes

......crying isnt funny, so how does it become funny? when u do it funny....its that simple....also i think Raimi tried to switch back and forth with the emotions of the film, the moods...if he wasnt trying to be all 'slap-stick comedy' or 'tounge in cheek' then maybe MABYE people wouldve been in the moment......if he wouldve done dark peter not silly peter then audiences wouldve connected with him crying......people say "dont take comic movies seriously" then now people say "take those parts seriously"?....hey dont make spidey into comedy channel, then the crying wouldnt have been such a joke....i'm sick of people trying to make this into a maturity issue, this comedic/dramatic formula bombed, hence people laughed at crying...

the breakup crying was the one that got the most laughs

See, this is why I want to see the movie again. I don't have an opinion on Tobey's crying because the audience was so rude that it killed any emotional scene for me. I want to watch the movie again, just so I can see it without any interruptions.

I'm sayin, I heard people in my audience laugh at this scene to, but it was the children. It is what it is,,,,put it this way,,when yall get older and a man/woman breaks ya heart,,,you'll be surprised at what faces you make,,,,lol,,,it's life, but yeah, it's not that easy to come up wit tears on the spot as an actor either,,,cut some slack yall.

I want to see this movie again with less of a crowd. The thing is, if the audience laughs at scenes that aren't supposed to be funny, it can really skew your perception of the film. All it takes is one guy to start laughing and then the entire theater laughs. The same thing happened when I saw The Grudge in theater. People were laughing at scenes that weren't remotely funny. Then once I saw it by myself, I started to appreciate the film better. I think I'll see Spider-Man 3 again either in a month or two or just wait for the DVD. That way, I'll be able to appreciate the film more. I think it deserves at least a second viewing.

That's almost exactly why my mom said. She told me that she can't wait until this movie comes out on DVD so she can watch it by herself.

Crying in real life does not look "perfect". If you're really upset, your face distorts and just looks awkward, your voice becomes "whiny" and incoherent. That's how it is. I can't remember exactly how Tobey did it, but I remember that I thought he looked pathetic. And I mean that as a compliment - he looked like he really lost it. Crying scenes where characters are just still and a tear rolls down their cheek are nothing memorable - I could accomplish something like that by concentrating on crying for about 30 seconds.

Really, I'd have to rewatch the film to be as close to objective as I can be about any issue - that's because certain members of the audience just plain sucked at being part of an audience. Through their bad conduct, they added to this aura in the place, which made me feel like I couldn't be myself. Whenever I had a hunch someone was going to cry I thought, "well, this isn't going to go over well with some of the audience", and that had a negative impact on my immersion, obviously.

yeah I agree. I think from now on, I'm going to wait a while before seeing a movie I really want to see. I think I'll wait a couple of weeks to see FF2 after it comes out. The audience you see the movie with is really important. It can make you really like a film or really hate it. I would much rather see it by myself on DVD so my view would be unbiased.

My theater laughed so much at both his breakup with MJ and Harry's death that I thought we were watching "Borat" again. :whatever:

If he fell to his knees and started blubbering when MJ broke up with him, I could see why it was funny...but it wasn't that outrageous. He teared up. Peter is so in love with MJ, it was very sad.

And the laughing at Harry's death I didn't get at all. I thought the scene itself (what I could hear of it over the howling) was beautifully done, and again...so sad!

It was fun to see the movie with a big crowd, but I'm looking forward to going back this week when it will be a little less crazy.

Yeah, everyone laughed at Peter's crying in the audience. The break-up scene got the most laughs but Harry's death wasn't too far off. :o I laughed too, but at the situation, not the movie.

Some people laughed during those scenes in my theater too. Most of them high-schoolers. I know, a bunch of them were sitting right beside me. They laughed like idiots during a lot of other scenes too, even the opening credits.

I thought Tobey did good. Like Beelze perfectly put it, crying doesn't look perfect. And even if you find Tobey's expressions funny, it's not "bursting out in laughter" funny. A weird expression, big deal. I guess people are just too immature. They want their heroes to be Wolverine unhappy, because a "real" hero can never cry...:whatever:

The theater i was in, the audience didn't laugh at that scene, therefor i think youre full of it.

T'is true. Every time he cried or looked as though he was about to cry, the audience laughed their asses off. Its something I even mentioned in my review.

People laughed at his crying on Harry's death in my theater too. Why? I really don't know.
I thought it was pretty realistic. I was suprised Dunst did a good job at it too.

Peter did a great job at crying. everybody in theatre including myself wasn't laughing. except for one idiot who said "he's ganna cry hahahaha". I wanted to yell at the guy but I wanted to watch the movie. anyway, I thought Peter crying in the scenes he did was excellent. his emotion is at best and I love it. the breakup scene I felt really bad fo him and the finding out Sandman killed his Uncle Ben. I felt bad for him when Harry died as well. I give 3 thumbs up for Tobey for the crying scenes:up::Up::up:.

While I do agree that Tobey makes reaaaally funny faces from time to time, for example also in SM2 when he was stopping the train or jumping of the rooftop, I think it was that way intentionally - just how many of you look hot when you are crying? The last time I really cried I felt, and Im quite sure also looked, horrible.

I actually felt saddest during the scene where Marko is seeing his daughter. That was touching to me -- and the scene where he pulls his body together was awesome.
