Walt Disney Pictures has confirmed that the studio has cast "Toy Story" franchise voice stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in the big screen adaptation of Disney's theme park ride Jungle Cruise. The studio released the following statement:

The Walt Disney Studios is excited to be in development with Mandeville Films and writer Roger S.H. Schulman on a feature film based on the Jungle Cruise, one of the most iconic attractions in Disney theme park history. The film will pair up Tim Allen and Tom Hanks in their first live-action project, after their previous collaborations in the Toy Story trilogy.‬

Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will produce.

The popular ride has visitors traveling the rivers of the jungle guided by a riverboat skipper and encountering wild animals as they cruise.

Hmmmmmmmm, I'm dubious about this even though I like Hanks, it could be fun but I get the feeling they will opt to make it "zany".

It'll be as boring as the boat ride. But I don't think I will get made, its been in development hell for too long.

i'm actually looking forward to this. i like both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, but Allen can be hit or miss at times. but as long as Hanks is involved i'm sure it will be decent. looking forward to see how the interact with eachother in a live action movie because they had excellent chemistry in the Toy Story films.

I wonder if there'll be a lame Toy Story reference. Like a scene where Tim turns to Tom and says "Who died and made you sheriff?" Or Tom telling Tim not to be such a "Space Case."

:o

i actually wouldn't mind a reference like that :oldrazz:

anyway, i wonder if this film will be a period piece like taking place in the 1920s/1930s or would take place in present time. hoping for the former.

I'll go see this just for the mere fact that Tim Allen and TOm Hanks are in it. They make a great team, IMO.

^What this guy said, they have great chemistry.

I love both actors, as well as the Toy Story movies, but to say that they have great chemistry as actors isn't exactly proven. They recorded all their dialogue at separate times; they weren't acting off of one another and probably only saw each other during the script readings in preproduction and during press time. So until we see the film, we can’t really say that they have great chemistry because recording lines separately for a cartoon is vastly different than acting in a scene together in a live action movie. I don’t have any doubts that they’ll do fine, however.

As horrible as this may be, it still has Hanks and Allen in it.

:o

I can pretty much see that happening actually. It's probably the main reason they are doing it together.

Considering all the skippers of the ride these days parody it so much in their delivery, I definitely see Hanks and Allen doing an amazing job with this.

I love the ride - not for the cheesy animatronics, but for the even cheesier jokes you get from the tour guides every time you ride it ("Can anyone tell me the name of that snake? It starts with a 'P'...that's right, plastic!" )

If it's something along the lines of Pirates with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, I could actually see this working.

For a while, I think Disney banned those jokes that broke the 'magic' of the viral environments.

Aside from all the uncanny valley, I quite liked The Polar Express. :o
