"You Are My Friend" - Mister Rogers Biopic Starring Tom Hanks

I'm not crazy about the trailer but I also didn't grow up watching Mister Rogers like a lot of people did.

^^Update from my previous comment, I cried like an absolute baby and liked this way more than I expected to. :funny:

So I saw this, and it was incredible. Loved it. And then I saw this hot piece of garbage:

Movie Review: 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' Downplays Mr. Rogers’ Christian Faith | National Review

This has to be one of the worst takes I've seen in a long, long time. In the movie, Fred's wife explictiyl says he derives his personality and outlook from his faith, and we get an extended montage of Fred praying for the people on his list. It's like whoever wrote this simply couldn't abide a film disproving their "Evil Holly-weird Hates Jesus" narrative, and just made up nonsense.

Yea, I guess they went to the restroom during the whole montage where he’s swimming laps while systematically praying for Lloyd and his entire family.

Mr. Rogers himself “downplayed” his own Christian faith because he was never preachy or pushy about it and didn’t feel the need to use his fame or television influence to proselytize. He kept his faith private and personal....like the Bible actually says people should do, which people like the authors of trashy hot takes like that would know if they’d ever actually read it.

This movie was just too boring. Mr. Rogers was barely in it and only there to be a guardian angel for the completely unlikeable protagonist.
