Now here is an interesting Loki costume! I've actually been wondering if he'll get a "crotch flap" like this on his new costume, seeing how Thor has one.

I like the armor design too.

Now here is an interesting Loki costume! I've actually been wondering if he'll get a "crotch flap" like this on his new costume, seeing how Thor has one.

Okay, time to speak up. People have been talking about loincloths and all. What I think that detail is on Thor's costume and here on Loki's costume in the (deleted) pic is actually just the bottom part of a garment called a tabard. From the Wikipedia entry: "In the late Middle Ages tabards, now open at the sides and so usually belted, were worn by knights over their armour, and usually emblazoned with their arms (though sometimes worn plain)."

Here is a Coipel drawing of Thor by which you can see that the bit of cloth in question is actually part of a larger piece of fabric that covers him in the manner the Wikipedia article describes: http://jasonhuskins.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/trhret.jpg

In the movie costume effectively appears to include two tabards: a blue one and then a worked leather one set over it. The leather one is the one that incorporates the large metal discs. The leather one appears to have a lot of coverage on the sides. (In the Coipel design, that element is greatly diminished to the point where it is almost just the metal discs.) But clearly it's the way he moves that is just plain sexy too. I mean just looking at the way he moves those hips when he walks, I'd theorize he adds a little extra movement if you get my drift.

I think considering Tom's rather impressive endowments the costume designer on this movie may very well want to incorporate that little loincloth on his costume. God forbid they give Elizah anymore salacious images to tempt fangirls with.
