Exclusive Video Interview: Thomas Jane Says Punisher: War Zone Plus Update On The Mist Written by Robert Sanchez Monday, 18 December 2006 During the premiere for Guillermo del Toro’s latest, Pan’s Labyrinth, Thomas “The Punisher” Jane showed up and we were able to catch him on the red carpet.

So what does Thomas Jane want the next Punisher film to be entitled? Right now, he’s thinking Punisher: War Journals or Punisher: War Zone. They plan on going for the hard R and getting, as he puts it, “blood on the walls, baby.”
Plus, he's attending the screening of Pan's Labyrinth in order to look at CaféFX, the special effects company that just completed work on Pan's plus Eragon and Ghost Rider, just to name a few. The special effects house is scheduled to work on the Stephen King adaptation he is has coming up next, The Mist, to be directed by Frank Darabont.

Yep and if you paid attention to the video he says they plan on shooting it in May 07.

kool, this news is the closest thing to a christmas gift im gonna get this year! perfect!

Thanks AD. Nice interview, Jane seems like a really cool guy.

Now lets hope they get things rolling by May (god willing). The movie has been through enough delays as it is.
Question is will Hensleigh be back as director now that they've got a big name writer?

I'm a bit skeptical about this though, Jane has given shooting dates before that werent accurate, not through any fault of his own i'm sure, but, we've just been given too many date's that have gone by with nothing for me to take this as concrete.

^True, and they chose someone good this time, Collateral and both POTC's were great.

Thanks again for the news AD. Jane really is down to doing the sequel and it really seems that the film is shaping up now. With a May 07 shoot and 08 release, I'm getting hyped already. :unishr:

You take life way too seriously.

Yeah seriously guy.If they are puttin stuff into wat u said it's proberly cause u left some stuff out.Jeez.And besides.u don't need to help them understand ur tone,if there dee dee dee's for not .just chill it's there fault.

New Interview mainly on MIST:

January 29: Thomas Jane talks THE MIST alterations
It’s a given that when any literary property is adapted for the big screen, omissions and additions will be made, and Frank Darabont’s THE MIST will be no exception, as leading man Thomas Jane tells Fango. The PUNISHER star (pictured) checked in with us while “up north” (i.e. Toronto) on reshoots for his latest, John Madden’s KILLSHOT. Our chat is geared more toward his work on David Arquette’s April release THE TRIPPER (check it out in Fango #262, on sale in March), but THE MIST is a hard topic to ignore.
“It’s the best horror script I’ve ever read,” Jane says. Busy with his current work, he tells us he missed the most recent MIST development—we give him the scoop that Andre Braugher and Laurie Holden have been cast as his co-stars—but back to those changes. “If you’ve read the novella, you understand the potential of the film, and Darabont has surpassed that,” he continues. “The script is missing the last 10 pages because he won’t divulge them to anybody—he’s changing the ending.” Why a veil of secrecy when anyone and their grandmother can venture down to the local bookstore, find the original King short and read how it ends? Well, without going into details, if you’re familiar with THE MIST’s conclusion, “the script we have ends with that—but Darabont has added an extra five minutes,” Jane reveals.
Definitive ending or no, Jane is jazzed about Darabont’s approach to the material. “We’re treating it as if it really happened. If you talk about something like 9/11 or a suicide bombing—the reality of that and how people react—that’s terrifying, and that’s how we’re gonna do this. Not as a monster movie, but as a story where this is actually happening to real people and [exploring] how they deal with it. Some people go into denial. That’s what’s exciting. I’m the most excited I’ve been about a film in a long time.” —Ryan Rotten

I've been reading a bit re:Killshot and LGF looks like they really have a stinker on their hands with that one. A terrific cast and supposedly a great story (I've never read the novel it was based on) but somewhere along the line it turned out bad...really bad.

This was the movie that LGF made bumping Punisher 2's production start and the pre-screenings of it were so negative they are redoing almost 1/3 of the movie. :ninja:

^ What the hell happened to The Mutant Chronicles. I saw footage from that like a year ago.

If it's the video I'm thinking of I posted it last month and I think Retro scanned it and found the details. It's online here somewhere.

I love how that dude sounds like he created Father Redondo.

though the meetings sound interesting

I'd rather not have someone who writes for Smallville writing...anything that I want to see
