Yeah the second trailer ditched the cringeyness of the first one. I'm suddenly excited for this.

I still think the dead father angle is repetitive from the 2001 movie, but hoping for the best.

Arguably Lara, Chun Li and Samus Aran would be the three most famous. Who else would be on the list of top tier? Jill Valentine, Sonya Blade, Princess Peach even?

I've been playing video games since 1995 and I had to Google Chin Li and Samus Aran. If you said Metroid most people would know who you are talking about. What's so special about Chun Li?

Street Fighter is pretty popular and been around for years.

That being said, I'd probably put Ellie from the Last of Us on that list. Higher level of awareness.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend

Respectfully Marvolo, I question how many video games you've actually played since 1995 without knowing those characters :) .

Chun-Li was the original female fighter of the Street Fighter series, and Street Fighter II was one of the most popular video game franchises in the world. Sold millions of copies across the globe on home consoles. Plus tons of money in the arcades when arcades were still a thing. Plus she has that cool iconic look and outfit. Also, fans like her personality. Plus she was the only female fighter in the game until Super Street Fighter II added Cammy.

As for Samus, the original Metroid was iconic and very popular. So is Super Metroid. Samus was the star of the game, and when you see the ending and find out she's female it was sort of like a big surprise to gamers. She was really the first major female gaming action hero so she sort of has that significance.

I think arguably Lara Croft took a higher level of popularity than both characters. The original Tomb Raider movie with Jolie actually made over $100 million at the US box office. In the mid and late 1990s, Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider games were very popular. You could probably couldn't the major gaming franchises with female heroines at the center on one hand. Tomb Raider was one of them. Resident Evil was another.

And then of course all the rumors of a fake nude code got teenaged boys obsessed.

I'm really impressed with Alicia's athleticism, physique and physicality in the trailer, she looks believable in the role. My pet peeve is nonathletic actors with poor physical acting cast in action roles.

It definitely looks like she took the role seriously and got into serious shape for the film. She looks crazy fit and strong.

Yeah, and I love how in the trailer you couldn't tell on whether that was Alicia or her stunt woman doing the stunts, looks really seamless.

As always Alicia looks :hmr:.

But yeah, she took the role very seriously which is always good to see, and we already know she is a great actress.

sounds like iron fist lol

Black Widow is in good shape in the MCU films. A person doesn't need to be visibly ripped to be athletic.
But that's the thing, she doesn't look athletic to me. And her physical acting is bad, there's no continuity and seamless-ness from actor to stuntwoman, just my opinion. Also it's the stuntwoman doing all the heavy lifting.

I have enjoyed Scarlet's portrayal of the Black Widow.
I have not noticed any flaws in the physical aspects of her performance.
I am not going to start looking for any either.

Nor have I. Am from what I've observed, that's more of a nitpicky hypercritical internet fan complaint (I know no one outside of that who's complained about that). And even there, its only a few people.

Also as for stuntpeople, THAT'S WHY THEY'RE THERE!!!! That's literally the reason why stunt people exist, so no that's not a valid complaint either. Yeah it's cool when an actor does their own stunts, but it's not wrong if they don't either.

Of course stunt people are needed, but my point is that you can tell it's the stunt person and not the actor doing the stunts!! This is just my opinion and everyone's different.

Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones movies, Linda Hamilton in T2, Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow, Tom Cruise in most of his action movies, Rebecca Ferguson from MI:Rogue Nation and so on are examples of good physical acting, physique, and seamless stunts.

Anyway, I hope this movie does well for Alicia since it looks like she put in the work physique-wise and physicality-wise.

Completed the re-boot game last week, loved it, great game, hope the movie keeps a lot of the story and character progression from it.

Posters look fine to me. I wish I was more excited for this but it doesn't really feel they've put everything into making the best possible TR film. Looking forward to seeing Vikander and the beautiful scenery but not much else as of now.

Never really liked Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider movies, both are your average run of the mill action movies. Maybe Alicia's will do better.
