Tony Blair to resign

It's the right time for Blair to go. He had my support at the beginning of his tenure but has made too many significant mistakes in recent years. Gordon Brown could prove to be a good replacement but I'm not going to make any predictions (I usually get them wrong). It could be too late to save the Labour Party.

The Conservitives are worse. You wouldn't even know Labour are a more left leaning party the way Blair has acted in recent years, but the Tories are worse.

Good, he started off well and went down hill after that really, and we need someone new.

Because the Republican Party is controlled by what we like to call "Bush Humping Neo-Cons." And George W. Bush is basically the leader of the Republican Party

And because the President is elected by the people and not by his own party like the Prime Minister, he wouldn't resign over an unhappy party.
Voters in the United States do not directly elect the two people who hold the highest offices in the land (ie. The President and the VP).

The House of Representatives elects the President; the Senate elects the Vice President.

No, president and VP are decided by a council at Bohemian Grove.
That's where Reagan was told to be patient and let Nixon go first.
No joke.

In fact, it was probably right at this table.

Why does that pic remind me of the tea party from Alice in Wonderland??

This is too often the way. You want to vote out the ruling party for their mistakes but their main competitors tend to be even worse. :(:(

because that's about what it's like, if you knew the backstory.

Actually the Electoral College elects the President. Only once has the House or Representatives chosen the President.

True. But still we do not directly elect our President. Speaking of which, do you think the electoral college should be retained?

Dubya would never dare go the Tony Blair route. Just our luck.

I think that it should be gotten rid of entirely

set aside your disgust for the modern democrat party and just realize that no party should have a monopoly on the governing of this country. i don't think the dems are as bad as you're making them out to be. they aren't all brainless twits. there's some good onese with good ideas. they just don't get the publicity they deserve.

You know some times I feel like saying almost the exact same thing to you except from the other point of view...It'd go something like this:

Set aside your disgust for the Republican Party and just realize that no party is perfect and all of the republican ideas aren't out to make the rich richer and poor poorer. I don't think the repubs are as bad as you're making them out to be. They aren't all brainless twits. There are some good ones with good ideas. They just don't get the publicity they deserve.

PS - I do agree that no one party should have complete control...BUT I also agree with Hippie that the Dems are so against Bush that if they gain control of congress "The 110th Congress will be even more useless than the 109th Congress."

So do I. It's not needed anymore in this day and age and the problems it has caused are more trouble than it's worth in my opinion.

Too bad that he's leaving.

Very bad timing too. Britain needs someone as strong against terrorism as possible. They will regret this.

I just felt a chill go right through me. *shrudder*

If ever I had to portray my nightmares into a single picture that is it. :(

I was just thinking I'd like to stick that under my light table and do a comicbook version of it. It already has a real Al Milgrom/Gene Colan look.
