Okay -- let's just say Tony Stark dies or goes into exile, or something.
I think his successor should be Japanese.

It would be an interesting re-launch of the character, and cool for these reasons:

1. Who is real high-tech robotics leader these days? Japan, not USA.
2. This would make Avengers more international. (ie: Captain America + Japanese Iron Man )
3.Suit could me styled differently, more Asian influence (ie: Anime style)

What do you think? Interesting?

After Civil War, Tony dying would be fine with me.
I wouldn't care who his replacement is as long as they were an interesting character and truly heroic. Nationality shouldn't matter.
The Avengers are currently being split up into two teams, and Captain America doesn't appear to be on either of them at this time.
I don't really LIKE Anime myself, but different strokes.

I wouldn't mind it, but I fear for the armor. I generally hate it when mecha designs pop up in American comics. They stick out like a sore thumb to me because the designs are so obviously aimed at capturing the anime/manga audience.

It'd be cool for Amadeus Cho to be the next Iron Man, or just an Avenger sometime later. He rocks.

I'd like it to be a steam punk kinda guy that had to use big ass armors. Kuinda go back to square one with the Iron Man concept. Either that or a technomancer. I don't care about race or ethnicity or sex (though the title would have to probably change if it was a woman).

a technomancer or a technopath would be an interesting twist to the Iron Man concept

Isn't Tony basically a technopath now? He can "talk" to satellites and stuff because he's all hopped up on that Extremis dope.

Yup. He never listened to Nancy Reagan, the poor bastard!:(

I'll start off saying: No.

Actually, France is a higher leader in robots than America as well. We DID invent running robotic legs after all. Haven't seen Japan get there yet.

Agreed. Nothing looks as unnecessarily hard to like than that. Iron Man's armour looks like what it probably should have always been: sleek and functional. Plated and covered. Not with a crown, visor, sword, whatever.

Nah. He's better as a Reed type.

Thinking of which, if they did do this, they should introduce her in the Runaways, since future Gert talked to Iron Woman before she died.

All in all. I'd like an LMD or something to take his place. Since that's basically what's happened in Hypervelocity.

^ do all of your posts have to have 3 or more quotes in them?

I COULD just make several posts. But you'll have to be willing to go to bat for me each and every time someone gets upset with it.

I wouldn't mind Amadeus Cho being the new Iron Man. He's dreamy:o:o:o

Don't change Iron Man's current look; it's amazing, and looks right for the first time. It'll always be how I picture Iron Man in my head.

I preferred the Renaissance armor (the post-Heroes Reborn one that turned sentient). My favorite remains the Silver Centurion armor, though.

The Renaissance was one of my fave's too. I never really dug the Silver Centurion armour though.

adi granov has "defined" iron man for me. his is what i'm going to think of years from now when i think of iron man.

An anime Iron Man would really just make me, as someone who loves engineering, want to die.

House of M Iron Man was all I can do to not go unstable and decide killing was a suitable response.

What, How about killing off Bruce Banner and Peter Parker (if they have been killed in the past, whoops, my bad. Ive been out of comics for a while).

I believe both of them have "died." Peter got a second chance thanks to Thanos and Death. That was a cool issue.

now that tony stark is now public director of SHIELD ,his supireors would legitimatly order him to stop acting as iron man and pick a successor from SHIELDS ranks
