Sorry unpopular opinion here but I thought Midsommar wasn’t great. It was kind of dumb to me. A very different film from Hereditary but the latter is so much more powerful to me than Midsommar. I felt he lost his way and meandered in the film. I know unpopular opinion.

I guess I can post a top 5 for the first half of the year now.

All in all, not too bad. It’s been underwhelming, though, and having missed Midsommar (and having had no hope of catching High Life) was a bummer. OUaTiH didn’t quite gel with me and Toy Story 4 is really just a cute coda of sorts. It’s Endgame and then everything else for me (even then, I thought Endgame was ‘aight with a superb ending, more than anything.)

Boy, I sound fun.

Still looking forward to lots of stuff for the remainder of the year, most of which I won’t get around to seeing until late next year.

Edit: holy hell, maybe it has something to do with me not seeing them but Shazam and Pikachu feel like last year releases.
