The problem in NY is people speak english as their 5th language (if they speak it at all) so I can't understand a word of it.

The problem with NY? I beg to differ. That is a gross exaggeration, the same kind that can be made for California with it's large Latin and Asian population. I'm from NY and English is my first language, even majored in English Lit in college. Sure I speak 8 languages, but that's because I've lived all over the world. NY has quite a mix of people like any major metropolis in the New World. Unless your claim can be backed up by facts it's just hyperbole.

Maybe all these accents you fear are a result of NY being the most visited tourist spot in the world?

New York City does not have a language barrier. The majority of the people speak English. Some better than others, but they still speak it.

I went to school with someone from New York City. While he spoke something definitely English-like, I'm not sure it was actually the English language.

I visited a few months ago. There was a language barrier for me. As a tourist, it was very frustrating trying to ask directions when everyone else is either a tourist as well or speaks english in an accent so think you can't understand.

Haha. It's not that crazy hey. When you travel a bit it's all in context mate. Plus it suits my lifestyle and what I do for a living.

I'd love a home out in the country, but a high rise apartment in New York City would make me a very happy man.

That's cool! I can totally see the appeal of a high rise. I like the city life a lot but not sure how i'd feel about the driving situation. I'd be walking everywhere if I lived in New York cause when I'm driving I need it to be smooth and comfortable. As a guy who likes going out, partying and doing anything but staying home all day, I'm sure there's plenty to do there.

I've been in every setting as far as city, country, beach,etc and I got something different out of each one, so I hear ya. Cheers my good sir!

Wow, oceanside is on your list too?! Cool. I didn't think too many people were even aware of it. Such a beautiful area and a very beautiful beach! I seriously want to move back there honestly. Hopefully in the near future.

My brother is a marine stationed at Camp Pendleton so I'm in Oceanside a few weekends a year to visit him. He's been trying to get me to move there for years and I would if I could find work there. It's an awesome town.

3. Las Vegas ('nuff said)
4. Dallas (I like the southern atmosphere. Plus, they have good steak)
5. Seattle (it's the nearest city to me, so possible american colleges arise there)

My brother is a marine stationed at Camp Pendleton so I'm in Oceanside a few weekends a year to visit him. He's been trying to get me to move there for years and I would if I could find work there. It's an awesome town.

One of my good friends was stationed there so I just up'ed and moved there. I had tons of fun there and made lots of friends (especially the ladies) with my "accent" lol. I loved that place! It took me a while to find a job though. If I had thw same job I have now but in Cali, I think i'd be there.

Don't go to Montreal, it may seem like a nice place. But the roads are terrible, the french hate the english, They actually gave gays every single right that's in the book, they treat the english worse than gays! (i'm all for it, but the engrish need their rights too! )

I could never seriously consider living outside this sate. And I loved visiting New York but don't think I could live there. Too many foreigners.
