Yeah, I think this is true.

The whole training of Bruce Wayne is similar to that of Macleod in Highlander. Even the scene when Bruce Wayne thinks he has won against Ducard(Al'Cool) and he breaks into the ice is similar to the one in which that rock falls on the Highlander.

Think about it :wow:

The angle you should have used is that MacLeod is like Bruce, overkeen and angry, and Ducard is like Ramirez, lecturing him all the way through the fight and then humiliating him. And the scenic, panoramic backgrounds.

I think you may have a point that Highlander is an influence, but I don't agree it's a straight rip-off.

But ya agree with me?! :ninja:

"Rip-off" is just used for provocation.

We arre the same, Bruce Wayne! We're brrrothers

There can be only one!

Must decapitate Batman Begins!

Thing is, though, Highlander probably stole it from any other movie with a young angry man looking for revenge turns into a cool, zen badass. :o

Ridiculous ............ there's been countless films where the angry young man is mentored by an older and wiser 'sensei' type character who teaches him how to hone his skills. I suppose Batman Begins ripped off Karate Kid as well? Neo in the Matrix? etc

They needed a way to explain how Bruce Wayne acquires all his martial arts skills and his discipline, I thought the story they came up with was pretty good and covered all bases.

Gaz

It's not a rip off. In the comics Bruce journeyed all over the world to train with martial artists, ninjas, theives, misfits, tricksters and the like to become the very best of the best. I can see the similarities between Highlander and Begins, but Nolan did his own thing.

I didnt see it....i kept waiting for Qui-Gon to tell Bale to Mind the Living Force

Connor Macleod would so own Bale.

Christian Bale would torture Conner Macleod with a coat hanger, then hack him to death while listening to Huey Lewis and the News, and still have enough time to drop his weight to 90 lbs, get it back up, put on muscle, beat Ra's Al Ghul, then take care of that pesky dragon problem that London is going to have in the near future, and all this before taking down an oppressive over-medicating government :o

You must be reading my mind. :woot:

They should of had Joe Espositos "Your the best" playing during the training scenes, then it could of been a karate kid rip-off

now, thats just unrealistic and therefore would never happen.:o

yeah, it did remind me of highlander, but the whole movie reminded me of other movies, mainly action ones. mixtures of blade runner, highlander, star wars, the first batman, heck, the 2nd batman, spiderman, alot of movies.

MacLeod - immortal with centuries of combat training, survived countless wars, can only be killed by decapitation

Christian Bale - actor

I guess I wasn't thinking of Macleod... Just of Lambet Vs Bale... or maybe Batman Vs Macleod. Either way Bale wins. :woot:

That make no sense what so ever.

It makes perfect sense. Have you never seen a movie before? Better yet, have you ever seen a movie before that didn't remind you of something else?

That is the reason WHY it makes no sense. I've seen alot of movies. ALOT! There were parts that reminded me of other Batman movies and maybe even Highlander, but Star Wars and Spiderman and many other action movies?

Give me a brake. This hole thread it pointless... a rip-off? What a joke. Anyone can say somehthing is a rip-off these days becuase almost everything has been done already. For the most pastt Batman Begins was fresh and and original take on the Dark Knight.

Read the actual post that GogleMe94 wrote. He said it reminded him of those movies. Nothing more.

You over-reacted and assumed he was suggesting Batman Begins may have been influenced by other films, when we all know Begins was made in a vacuum. Even though Nolan himself lists Blade Runner and 70's James Bond movies as influences.....no, he must be wrong.

Also, if you cannot see any similarities with Spider-Man in every single supehrero movie since, then you are not looking hard enough.

I did read it. No, I didn't over-react or assume anything. I never said he was wrong.

Yeah, sorry I just don't see what you see. Since you seem to know something I don't why don't you tell me what reminded of Spiderman.

Oh, how about Star Wars? I would to know what part in Batman Begins reminds people of Star Wars.
