I spoke to Michael today and he had a little update on his future projects:

* He will be meeting later this week with Steven Spielberg, and Ehren Kruger to discuss ideas for Transformers 3. By the end of the week he should have an idea if Transformers 3 will hit your local cineplex in the summer of 2011 or 2012.

* In the meantime "Pain & Gain" is looking very possible as is...

* ...Bad Boys 3. Either film coming to a theater near you before or after Transformers 3.

Cool. I'm guessing Ehren Kruger is taking over writing duties since it doesn't look like Orci and Kurtzman.

Despite my animosity towards Bay (and his respective BB and TF franchises), he should try for a summer 2012 release for TF-3. Going up against the various Marvel movies that open before it on July 1, 2011 (as well as Harry Potter two weeks after it) is commercial suicide.

2012 is fair game for the studios, as far as summer tentpoles are concerned. Only The Avengers is pegged in the early May spot.

^Non of those Marvel movies are proven franchises like TF is though with the exception of Spiderman, and I doubt they would put it near that.

There's always a first. Either way, the competition would sap away some of the profits the more reliable tentpoles get.

Paramount/Dreamworks has already skedded Transformers 3 for the July 1, 2011 spot before TF-2 came out. That's subject to change like all the other blockbuster tentpoles, but Bay would probably be wise not to rush the script into development to get the film ready by 2011.

I'd rather them release the movie in 2012 rather than 2011 because as with ROTF the two year gap wasnt enough to get the story as tight as it could've been.

Spend more time making a better movie rather than rushing to get it out quicker.

Technically that was due to the writers strike. With the reports that the writers were busy writing the script with each day of shooting going well into post. , all because of the writers strike.

HOwever i do agree that i'd rather see TF 3 in 2012. Bay and his crew have shown that they can make a massive blockbuster in 2 years time.
But it nevertheless remains a "rushed" project. THere isn't any room for mistakes or changes because your on a tight schedule.
They don't have to worry about competition because let's face it .....TF 2 made 400 million. You don't hit that mark easily.

But instead of going into a already crowded summer of 2011 , they're better of going the summer of 2012 which is for relatively empty.

Great Bay and Ehren Kruger. The two men who should most be blamed for all the crap that was in TF2.

While Kurtzman and Orci are slightly responsible, both Bay and Kruger changed their script around so much its not even funny.

The Twins everyones favorite characters were conceived by Bay and Kruger. Not only that but they shortened Sideswipe role by a tremendous amount to give the "deserved" time to those two precious slang talking bots. Yay .

I hope that Paramount doesn't just leave Kruger as the writer. Take him out and bring a capable writer to write the script for the 3rd movie so it doesn't basically feel like a rehash of the first with a wimpy overlord (The Fallen).

Oh and please keep the script as far away from Bay when it comes to making story changes and whatnot.

is Transformers and Revenge of the Fallen written by the same people who wrote this year's Star Trek?

Yeah, I would rather they spent more time getting the script tighter. I'm also not sure about Kruger taking on script duties on his own, the script for the sequel definately wasnt as tight as the one for the first movie.
