I mean, you're not wrong about a few of the other films, but where were Vivian and Izzy being treated as sexual and objectified here?

With the exception of that one sex joke with Wahlberg and the former, those two characters were an improvement over the majority of past female characters in Bayformers, at least with how Bay treated them.

I don't seem to recall a robot genitalia joke in this either. Heck, I don't recall any being made after Revenge Of The Fallen, so unless I'm missing something...

And I'd hope that even Bay wouldn't be creepy enough to overtly sexualize a 14 year old.

So I heard people predicting $60 million opening domestic and it ended up at only $45 million.
As for the quality, I've learned to not expect any from the movies; but I just can't follow the stories any longer. It seems they are always the same and yet at the same time I'm always confused.

Technically it was $69 million since it opened on Wednesday, but it's still a far cry from the glory days of the franchise. Dark of the Moon made almost $100 million more than that over a 5-day opening six years ago. If they think they're making more than maybe two more of these, they have delusions of grandeur. There's probably just enough steam for a Transformers 6 to wrap things up for good and the Bumblebee movie before this cow is completely milked. It had its day in the sun for a few years but now Avengers and Star Wars rule the toy aisles.

Here, here. Her performance as Quintessa was terrific, imo. Cold, creepy and manipulative.

Now hopefully they actually explain who she really is in the next one. She says she's the 'Prime of Life', yet the Knights call her a deceiver, so who knows what she's told Optimus is true or not, other than Unicron being on Earth.

You should give the "Quintessa" track in the score a listen. So creepy. There was so much potential for this movie.

Ha, if only. Sadly overseas is saving this film's ass. The only hope is that a new set of eyes besides Bay's might breathe some new life into this beaten horse, but Wahlberg's statement about him not seeing Bay being able to step away has me worried. I'm hoping the dismal US numbers will cause Paramount to force Bay to back off.

Dude...it's Bay. He'll sexualize an American girl doll if he can figure out how to do it. It's not like the women in these films are given anything to do. He should just use a bunch of Real Dolls and save the money on paying an actual actress.

Honestly, while I like Transformers: Prime, I never liked the idea of Unicron=Earth either.

I once interviewed Prime creator Jeff Kline and I asked him about making Unicron the Earth, here's what he said:

Jeffrey Harris: The series took a bold move with Unicron last season. Unicron was literally the Earth itself and perhaps even the creator of humanity. Does this in the world of Transformers basically make Unicron proverbially or quite literally God itself? Or was it not meant to be that big of an idea considering this is a cartoon?

Jeff Kline: We never really thought of unicron as the “creator of humanity.” To our minds, he was the floating “core” around which the earth formed. Something to do with gravitational pull and space dust and a whole bunch of science i was too busy reading comic books in class to pay attention to.

There will continue to be Transformers movies, it's critic proof and a surefire money maker. The question is whether Bay will return.

Well, I guess I'll sacrifice my copy of the 1986 animated film to the Transformers gods in hope that he doesn't. If that isn't enough, I'll go find Stan Bush and sacrifice him.

I agree. I like how the Cybertron games did it. Shockwave was doing interstellar research for Megatron to find new worlds to plunder because Cybertron was dying. He stumbled upon prehistoric Earth, that's what gave him the inspiration to turn the Autobot black ops team into the Dinobots in the game (No Wheeljack, simple dinosaurs, simple brains). But I recall the plan was to open up the space bridge, go to Earth and take all its Energon for themselves.

With Beast Wars, what I recall is they did land on prehistoric Earth in the time where the Ark was still in the volcano. However, Earth wasn't home to Unicron but some highly advanced aliens. Think History Channel ancient astronauts or Engineers from Prometheus. I don't think they were lated to Transformers though.

That's not bad. I'm even ok with just stumbling upon us after having to leave Cybertron, but the whole "our destinies are intertwined" crap is beyond unnecessary.
