Dark of the Moon had its moments, mostly because of how dreary it kind of got. I credit that to Ehren Kruger's writing though. The wackiest it got was Ken Jeong in the stall.

If this one follows the pattern of every odd-numbered Transformers movie being decent, then it could be okay. I'm really damn skeptical about them shoehorning in King Arthur and Merlin, though. But much like how I saw the last one for the Dinobots, I'll see this for Hot Rod.

260 million budget are they out of there minds this has fkop written all over it considering the last one only made 245mill domestic i wouldnt have given a bigger budget for the next one

But this franchise is still making a ton of money worldwide. TF4 made quite a lot in China (breaking records at the time with 222 million $), and after 3 years of constant cinema theaters growth, this new one is most likely going to be another massive hit there. TF and Fast & Furious are two Hollywood franchises that will benefit a lot from business there. Imagine how the industry will look like when a TF or F&F film makes as much money in China as something like this year's The Mermaid did. I know the worldwide market doesn't bring as big a percentage of money as the domestic one does, but it's still money. Studios will care more about getting 850+ million $ in the foreign market than 250 million $ in the domestic one.

Also, Even though the last film suposedly was the start of a new trilogy, this one is the first in what is going to be a massive expansion of the franchise. After this, it's going to become an annual film series, so they want to start with a bang. But then again.......so did Amazing Spider-Man 2.....and that one didn't go far. I doubt the same will happen here though, this film series seems to be critic-proof and it will probably break another record in China.

I have a friend who has seen the trailer:

Its still unfinished and loads of the CGI wasn't there. Looks like theres a war between humans and transformers. He didnt see Unicron but they use a lot of Transformers: The Movie imagery that leads you to believe he'll be in the film. Ends with Optimus saying forgive me and attacking Bumblebee and Wahlberg. Prime's eyes glow purple and there's a shot of him floating in space (Like Megatron was in the animated movie). It's weird hearing Anthony Hopkins talk about Transformers. Lots of crazy shots...battles in medieval times, battles in WW2 and a shot of a three headed dragon flying by.

I hope this movie is the "Empire Strikes Back" of Transformers, which was sort of what I was expecting Revenge Of The Fallen to be due to how they first advertised it.

In TF4, did Optimus have the ability of flight when he scanned that new truck or he got it after he pulled out that sword (Coz his arms changed when he pulled it out)? It wasn't made very clear Coz when he flew I was erm when could he do this without a jet pack.
