Transformers: The War for Cybertron

After popping up on the ESRB and OFLC rating websites, a game called "Transformers: Cybertron Adventures" for Wii led some to wonder whether it was a new, unannounced game. An Activision representative tells Joystiq that it's "the Wii version" of the company's upcoming Transformers: War for Cyberton on PS3 and Xbox 360.

The DS version of War for Cybertron, which comes in two versions with Autobot and Decepticon campaigns, still maintains the less family-friendly title. So, Wii owners can expect "adventures" with the Transformers this summer, as high-def consoles prepare for "war."

Do You Recognize This War For Cybertron Preorder Bonus?

Transformers: War for Cybertron is all about exploring the original Cybertronian Wars through the eyes of reimagined first generation Transformers. Then who the hell is this Amazon preorder-exclusive multiplayer character?

As we've mentioned previously, Gamestop customers who preorder War for Cybertron will score a code to unlock cold, emotionless Shockwave for multiplayer play. Now Activision reveals the Amazon-exclusive preorder character, and it isn't a Generation One character at all.

If you need a clue, check the eyes.

Yes, that's Demolishor, Megatron's most loyal soldier from the Transformers: Armada cartoon. In that series he transformed into a futuristic tank-looking thing. Later, in the Transformers: Energon cartoon, Demolishor worked with the Autobots, betrayed the reborn Megatron, died, and was reborn as a dump truck.

So there you are, Amazon.com game purchasers. A one-eyed tank that's destined to become a dump truck. Enjoy!

Dammit! I want Shockwave but we don't have Gamestops in the UK.

I'm sure Play.com will snag from exclusives skins dude. They better anyway!

I just found out Leonard Nimoy is voicing Zeta Prime :awesome:

I'm not really thrilled by that. 4 different Transformer types and being able to change the color? It better come with a character creator where you can take any parts of already existing and random robots and build your own. I don't expect something as vast and complex as Armored Core, but let us be able to change up the body.

I was a bit disappointed to learn that you don't get to play as Megatron on the Decepticon side of the single-player game. Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp? The three jet dudes who are f***ing identical? :csad:

Say whaaa...!? You don't get to play Megatron? It's not April 1st anymore Corp. Tell me you're kidding. Tell me you're kidding! :cmad:

Well, according to GamesRadar's hands-on article:
The game features Optimus, Bumblebee and Ratchet as playable characters, while the Decepticon trio of Skywarp, Thundercracker and Starscream make up the opposing side.
Granted, they might've played an early build or the devs might've been holding some of the content back. The game still looks great and everything, but I'll be a bit disappointed if we can only play as lackeys on the Decepticon side, especially since Optimus is confirmed for the Autobot side.

I really hope they just played some demo, where they tried to show off the different play styles. Ground and air combat. The Decepticon side can't be nothing but fly missions. Also, wasn't Jetfire supposed to be in the game too? The final game must have more playable characters for each side. Heck, Revenge of the Fallen offered more and that's a cheap movie-tie-in.

If it's just those 6 in the campaign and everyone else in multiplayer, I'll be reluctant to keep it.

I can see why you can't play as any of the "name" TF's in multiplayer though. Because if you can choose Megatron or Starscream, every person will be either Megatron or Starscream.

Does anyone know if it has multiplayer co-op, kind of like Resistance 2?

So? Everyone is gonna want to play as Optimus Prime.

Wow.. so they went with an Amarda inspired design for demolisher.... cool

Yes. It has 3 player, drop-in/out, online co-op for both campaigns.

I don't mean the campaign story mode. I meant just a multi-player team mission outside of campaign, as well competitive, which is online vs online.

The focus is apparently on MP (another strike against it, in my book), so I would assume it has a lot of MP options. But I don't think we've gotten specifics yet.

To me that's the replay value of it though. If they are calling this game the "Arkham Asylum" of the TF universe, then they can improve on that by making the replay value better. To me, that means online co-op (outside of campaign) and competitive.
