Is anybody worried that they are going to end up hyping this movie as the best thing ever that once after you see it you aren't satisfied?

I'm pretty sure the action going be awesome and the story is going suck... half of me going hate it and the other half going love it...

Oh, I already know the story isn't going to be up to par. Anyone that thinks so is fooling themselves. We're going to see Transformers in a live action setting, and that's the only reason.

Well let's be honest...we're not going to see Transformers to hear their philosophy on life...we're going to see them try and blow each other up while human scramble for cover.

I don't see how I could be letdown because I'm interested primarily in the action, and everything I've seen so far indicates the action will be out of this world.

z0mg THIS MOVIE WAS ****ING AMAZING, it's everything I wanted... PErhaps the best action scenes committed to film... I'm tired... However let me address the two biggest problems with the film:

First - sometimes a little too comedic and it falls really flat and stupid, however a good chunk of the comedy is really funny but it something that I think on repeated viewing is not going hold up. cond - due to the nature of the movie, outsideo f Optimus and Bumblebee the transformers don't get to get a lot of characterization. However, I like the approach they took which was to get non-fans to fall in love wih the autobots and there bravery, it's like Batman Begins, it's the first movie, it has those intial problems now the sequal going be even better. GO SEE THIS MOVIE... Optimus Prime's voice alone is worth the price of admission :cmad:

i just got out of the theatre from seeing this. no doubt KMWs review will follow and will be the complete opposite of what i think.
W / SPOILERS :

i hated this movie. it is the definition of awful. it is stupid useless drek that furthers the concept big blockbusters do not require scripts which function. the story barely works even with a suspended imagination and boy let me tell you i can suspend mine and often. here, i was treated to the idea that somehow, somewhere there's robots that can transform. from what i don't know OR do we ever learn but they can transform and they do! once on earth they assimilate EVERY GMC vehicle out there to proudly display that america does indeed make good looking cars. buy one now. and shop on ebay. use a mac and more product placement to help you clearly understand where the producers culled the cash to produce this giant flaming turd. least there's Shia who's watchable in everything...
-megatron nowhere NEAR this film til' it's nearly done. he gets venom'd and maul'd all at once.
-optimus dialogue has him reflecting like a child.
-the balance between serious tone, comedy, action, drama was so bi polar i couldn't keep up. i ended up feeling the love in comedy scenes, being afraid in the drama and laughing at the action.
-apparently the autobots is a military designate as each autobot needs permission to speak.
-some of the autobots speak with the candor of a 14 yr. old in a playground'yo optimus what's kraka-lacking?' optimus: some scriptwriters would be nice !'
-here's the rub; if studying the 'net has enabled the good bots to be 'cool' then why would bumblebee choose to look like a beat up camaro? then change up & modernize to please sam and his girl? hunh?! oh yeah, i forgot! GMC makes cool looking cars...
-WTF was the movie about?
-the so-called-awesomesauce SPFX were NOT all that. i loved Batman Begins for a variety of reasons and OFTEN have to defend the 'blur' of the action sequences. Neeson' Ras character even explains early in the film 'this is not a dance...' but michael bay never has his script explain why the action or transformations are blurry. in fact the script explains little. most of the action is blurred out.

i could go on. no really. i hated this film.
1/10

That damn Shia LeBeouf destroys everything he's in, this movie is that piece of Disturbia all over again, but with occasional moments of coolness this time (which had nothing to do with him).

The personalities of the Transformers are...ok I guess, but most of them don't extend pass "this one sounds mean....this one sounds nice....this one sounds funny...this one sounds authoritative..."

About 90 minutes of this movie is the same tired dork falls in love with hot girl that's dating the jerk, then rises to the occasion and becomes the hero crap that I can see on any Disney channel movie of the week, another half hour is stupid military cliches that makes the military look like morons, and a half hour is cool Transformer fights that with underdeveloped Transformers.

There was a nice theme about the good in humanity and the self-destructive nature of every species, but it's under-explored because they were too busy making a comedy with excessive camp that ranges from mildly amusing to ridiculously stupid (usually leaning toward the latter).

It's funny how the mighty Optimus Prime was too damn stupid to think of just shoving the cube into Megatron's chest himself instead of getting into a 20 minute fight with him and repeatedly talking about self-sacrifice as opposed to the blatantly obvious choice of DOING IT YOURSELF rather than letting Shia freaking LeBeaof take down the uber bad-ass that failed to live up to his build up.

This is one big pile of wasted potential with occasional shades of coolness

they were trying to keep the allspark AWAY from the Decepticons if they could help it. keeping it away means...keeping it AWAY, not getting it close to them. the objective was to keep the allspark safe, not destroy it....what they ended up doing was a last resort kind of deal.

There was no need to keep it away from them if all they had to do was shove it in him to ****ing destroy him. If Shia LeBeauof could do it I'm sure Optimus could've managed, one of a plethora of idiotic things in this movie.
What happened at the end should've been the plan all along, since it was the blatantly obivous way to win.
"Lets committ ****ing suicide rather than just shove it in my enemies chest and kill him!" Wow...brilliant.

you're not getting the point....it was too much of a risk to do what you think they should've done. putting the allspark anywhere within reach of the Decepticons, even if it's to kill them is a no no. i don't think you understand that if the Decepticons got their hands on the allspark that it could possibly be the end of freedom....that's why what they ended up doing was a last resort. they were trying to keep the allspark safe and secure, not in harms way. the allspark is the thing that brought life to their planet...the last thing they wanted to do is let it anywhere near a Decepticon.
the autobots wanted to obtain the allspark...not destroy it.

I understand what they wanted, but letting some kid run around with the damn thing and risking one of them finding him is riskier than simply shoving into one of them to end it.

This is one of the best times I've had at the movies in years. I haven't liked any of Bay's movies, even The Rock, but I thought this one was pure awesome fun. One of the few movies that actually delivers what it promises. 9/10

so...looking for once specific creature the size of a mouse that's running around with a bunch of other creatures the size of mice along with trying to destroy your enemy with debris flying everywhere meanwhile stay alive is easier to do than steal something from your enemy while he's within reach of you? i don't get that...

Entrusting the item to a kid rather than to a massive Transformer who couldve simply shoved the item into his opponents chest...I don't get that.

well then you obviously have never played football.
not to mention you're totally ignoring that the objective was to keep the allspark safe and in the hands of the autobots......not to destroy it.

it's their source of life, the thing that could rebuild their world, the last thing they wanted to do was to do what they had to...

I've played it; and if they were willing to self-sacrifice, then what they had to do should've been one of the first things that popped into their head.

If in football shoving the ball into your opponents chest won the game, it'd be a rather obvious choice.

and if they were willing to self-sacrifice, then what they had to do should've been one of the first things that popped into their head.

for the umpteenth time....their goal was to get the allspark and KEEP IT....not to do what they did with it. how many ways does that have to be told to you?
from the start of the film it was told that both sides wanted the allspark to HAVE and to USE its power....not to get rid of it again. they needed to get rid of the Decepticons, yes, but up until the end they still had the opportunity to get the allspark to safety.

as for you playing football...you must not have played it well because you keep the ball away from the other team no matter the cost. no you don't stick it in their chest to get a touchdown, but keeping the allspark away from the Decepticons is the same principle as football. keep the ball away from the other side...it's as simple as that.

Transformers
Directed by Michael Bay
Rating: 8/10

Transformers is finally here and it’s not too shabby. First off there have been so many different iterations of Transformers to say that any one is the right one seems completely ridiculous to me, there seem to be only one constant: Good vs. Evil. Everything else is pretty supercilious because for every G1 fan there is a Beast Wars fan and in five years time they’ll most likely be TF: Cybertron fans, give it another 5-8 years they’ll be Transformers Animated fans, get my drift? So in the end I’d say this is loosely inspired by G1 and to be honest I have no problem with that, we’re seeing yet another take on the Transformers Mythos.

First off let’s discuss plot, the ALL SPARK. Supposedly it’s the magic cube that gives life to Transformers, Megatron wants it, lands on earth, and all hell breaks loose. I thought this was going be lame but in the end it strangely works, it was a nice way to tie everything together especially for non-fans. The biggest deviation for most people was that it focused on Spike’s story, this was no where near as bad as people said it was, seriously the idiots on these boards made it out that the TF’s were minor characters in there own film, NOT THE CASE AT ALL. Focusing the movie on Spike was smart for a couple of reasons, the first is that he’s a non-CGI character, whether you’d like to admit it or not, that makes a big difference, it gives us someone real to cheer for. The second reason is this is an origins movie, you got to introduce the Transformers at the right pace. However there are two real negatives to the script, the first major one is the comedy, some of it was really good and needed to break up all the action but they went a little overboard with the comedy to the point where I’m pretty sure it’s going hurt it on repeated viewings. Second due to the nature of the movie outside of Optimus and Bumblebee the other Transformers don’t get a lot of characterizations. However this is fine since again it’s the first movie, the second movie going open the floodgates for this.

The action in this movie is fricking amazing! My jaw hit the floor for nearly the entire film. The robots themselves look so fluid and real, it’s great. My only beef with the action is that Michael Bay is started to get a bit lazy creative wise, and he keeps reusing shots from previous movies, it’s not as bad as the Island, however it does take away a little from the originality of the film in terms of shot-value. Optimus Prime’s voice was amazing, it was great to hear the big guy speaking again, he just gave me tingles down my spine! I loved all the G1 references they threw it, but I won’t ruin it for anyone. However where it succeeded at least for me, is that it packed that movie magic so many films are missing now a days. In the little movie theater crammed with a 100-200 people, we all stared on in horror as our heroes got the crap kicked out them as they try to save the world, and for a moment it was as if this were really happening, it was great. So in the end the story’s a little weak and a bit too much comedy, however it’s the first one out of the gate, I can’t wait for a sequel.

I keep the ball away from the other team because it's not as simple as shoving the ball into the chest one the opposing player to win, if it were that's exactly what I'd do, as would any competent player, since it's the obvious choice.

Of course you don't stick the ball in your opponent's chest to get a touchdown, because shoving the ball into your opponent's chest is not how you win in football, which it was here, hence why your example falls flat, like the film itself.

And for the umpteenth time, I'm well aware of what their plan was, but if they were willing to self-sacrifice anyway, then what ended up happening should've been among the first things that they considered.

part of me will like this while the other half will hate this(prime doesnt look like the optimus prime of old and hell they totally changed bumblee)..how, how could bay or any vip on this movie get away with this?
