I recently had a problem with my computer, the power source went off during a storm, so I took the cpu for fixing
the problem is that once I got my cpu back, mozilla has been acting pretty weird

the most persistent problem is that the quick search enginen in the upper right side of the browser just won't get enabled, this means I can't enable the wiki, google, dictionary or amazon searches

how do I solve this?

Did you do a full unistall or just the basic uninstall? To do a full unistall you need to unistall Firefox then go into the Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View>and selectshow hidden files and folders. Then in Windows Explorer go into Documents and Settings>Your Folder>Application Data>Mozilla

delete the Mozilla folder, but be sure to go into the folders and move your bookmarks.htm to another folder so you don't lose them. Then reinstall Firefox and put your bokmarks back into the proper folder and be sure to go back in Windows Explorer and undo the show hidden folder tab. It always works for me when Firefox goes on the fritz.

Kable24 is right but to ensure a clean install you should shut down (not restart) your PC go for a 5 minute walk or make a coffee come back turn it on and then reinstall firefox.

If this doesn't work then you have a problem with corrupt preferences in your profile.

You can also try to run a scandisk or chkdisk. Open My COmputer right click on your Hard Drive choose properties then tools then error checking (win2k - others similar). The restart your computer - this will then check files and my find the corrupt file.

If nothing prevails, why don't you install two Firefox in your computer?

During setup process, choose custom install to select the destination folder, then launch it for comparison.
