I know we got a lot of Hulk threads but since it's the hot button topic right now we might as well have one to discuss what happens from here. Avengers will probably feature Hulk as a driving force to bring the Avengers together. Whether he serves a bigger purpose in the movie or whether Marvel has serious plans about his future after Avengers remains to be seen. This thread is to discuss when you would use him next, and what would be the best fit for him.

I'd do a Defenders movie after Dr. Strange and Namor make appearances. No sense going back to solo movies. I'd say:

2012/13: Dr. Strange
2012-2015: Namor appearance in a major Marvel movie but no solo movie.
2016-2018: Defenders movie (Namor, Hulk, Dr. Strange... maybe SS).

This sounds practical to me as a second go around. I can still see a TIH sequel during that period. As I said before, to make a good Hulk movie I want to see more Hulk. After Avatar's extended CGI perhaps the time for that is around the corner!

I would want to see a sequel to TIH...

I want a TIH sequel too, but Marvel seems pretty intent on dumping Norton from their train so I don't see it happening. :(

It's their loss, though. So far Marvel's only proven moneymaker is Iron Man, and apparently they're quite sure that the fandom is perfectly fine with them treating their actors the same way they treat their comic writers and artists: like disposable tools who nobody but the "whiners" will miss.

I would reboot it, but in a tv show format. I think it could work better in that realm, between a prosthetic suit and cgi when necessary it could re juice the franchise.

Nothing against Norton but TIH, even when faster paced than Lee's Hulk, wasn't a movie really over the average rushed superhero movie. I wouldn't be angry with a sequel but a reboot sounds great even when implausible.

Well I was a fan of Norton & IH. I'm indifferent toward what they do next because they railroaded Norton and that makes Marvel not worth my time.

Why bother getting invested in a new actor anyway - chances are he'll be recast just as well as others.

^ The way things are going, it seems to be becoming a friggin' tradition for Hulk to be played by a different actor in every movie.

I really don't want another reboot, especially since it'd f*** with the MMU canon.

Reboot, wait another 5 or 6 years and get Ben Foster, he should be around teh right age then. TIH wasnt that great anyway and neither was Norton in the role of Banner.

TIH wasnt anything special, I preferred Hulk myself, but it was okay as a starting point for a franchise, and the reason Norton wasnt anything special in it was because they gave him nothing to work with, at all.

Dumping Norton isnt going to help either, I am starting to believe the rumour that Hulk may be killed off in Avengers.

Of course this would require dumping a ton of money into the franchise. By the way, I wasn't that impressed with the CG of Avatar. Let me clarify, everyone I talked with and on web forums said that the CG was incredible and very realistic. Now, I thought the world Cameron created was awesome, imaginative and fresh. But I could still see at times that the CG was still flawed and not nearly as perfect as everyone made it out to be. I actually thought that the best CG in TIH was just as good as that found in Avatar, but that is my opinion. But it would be an improvement for Marvel to use the same technology for the Hulk.

I want to see an Incredible Hulk sequel. (With Wendigo)

Mark Ruffalo seems like a solid choice for a new Banner as well (at least he's not a pretentious *****ebag)

That's a very good question I don't know the answer to. I've read somewhere that Ruffalo has signed a 5-6 picture deal, so maybe Marvel's looking to have a couple of new Hulk films out in the future (can't see it happening though, sadly :csad:).

Yeah I wouldn't put much stock in these 5-6 or 9 movie options. At the end of the day, the movies have to be successful. TIH sequel is worthless at this point. No one is going to be clamoring for a Hulk solos after something like Avengers. He needs to be integrated with the rest of the universe.

But that's the thing.... The Hulk is a character that has yet to reach his full potential on the big screen (loved TIH and was eager to get a sequel that expanded on the story), and I would hate to see the character get shrunken down to just a supporting character. There's many places Marvel can go with him, but it seems like they're not willing to do so.

Yeah that worked last time with Hulk ^^^... worked for Bond too until QOS. Punisher... how'd that work out? Seriously the reboots have probably done more harm than good. Instead of taking the approaches that worked previously, those films seemed to divert completely and go out of the way to stand on their own that it becomes detrimental to the characters. The approach needs to be, constantly reinventing yourself without reinventing the wheel. Bond tried to reinvent the wheel. TIH failed to reinvent the character. War Zone was a spoof as far as I'm concerned. The point being, reboots are not the answer in most cases. I don't know what the next step is for Hulk, but if they can somehow bring everything back from TIH spare Norton/LL, everything that worked of course, and make a great sequel, that just may be the most logical option. I just don't see it considering LL/Norton basically made TIH what it is, and it just doesn't make sense financially. But we already knew all that...

The key for Hulk in Avengers is to take advantage of the opportunity and have him go somewhere. Develop him. Not just learning to use the power to be a hero. We already saw that. But there has to be another level of progression. Can he use the condition for medical or other non-destructive scientific advances? Can he control the alter-ego such that he isn't always just a dumb brute that smashes and tears **** up? I'm sure there are already stories that have addressed this. And solo movies, or better yet, a TIH sequel, is the best way to address some of those questions. If Marvel just wants the eye candy and the hero, anti-hero stuff, then best to stick with crossovers and other ensemble movies where Hulk can do that on a grander scale.

For me that's the ultimate way to diminish a superhero; to make it a secondary character of something else.

I might be wrong, but I don't thing Avengers will be the kind of movie that develops characters. It feels to me like a mindless action flick with too many characters in it.

I liked both Hulk movies, Marvel doesn't need to reboot the character again. It sucks Norton is out, but Mark Ruffalo is a damn fine actor. Yes, it's annoying continuity wise, but **** it - **** happens.

They should just carry on with the story.

Marvel's got one more shot.
Re-boot the Hulk right in the Avenger Movie.

Norton was a jerk during the production and filming of marvel films, i don´t mind if he´s out, i only want the story to continue.

I chose to sit on him. He really isnt worth it at this time...
