TV shows that burned hot, then burned out almost as fast

Superman 3 and 4 at least had Chris Reeve in them.
Superman Returns was a decent film.

A comedian got more screen time than Chris Reeve who himself said that Superman III sucked, and don't get me started on the all-mighty Nuclear Man!:o

There's so much wrong with Superman Returns it's not funny. There's a reason the show lasted 10 years, Welling grew into the role nicely and was well embraced more than Stalkerman Brandon Routh.

The last 2 seasons were enjoyable and better than SR.

Yep.

Oh great, a troll.:whatever:

So I guess you've never heard of Superman III or IV or Returns?

Because it's nothing like Chris Reeve or Brandon Routh? Because there was actual action and Clark Kent punched bad guys for once?

"Hey let's hold out on making Lex a bad guy as long as possible because fan-girls like him and a Clark-Lex bromance works good with our CW demographics.... Oh noez, you mean it's season 5 of this aimless show and the actor who wants to play Lex wants to leave now? Okay, let's introduce Doomsday, but first we'll make him a relatable ambulance driver or something because..... :o"

Haha. No seriously though. Smallville sucked.

And Tanin most definitely isn't a troll, but I know calling someone that is a lazy and easy fallback whenever you don't like what someone says. Sorry, buddy. You may be a "smallville fan", but most of America wasn't by the second or third season of this meandering monstrosity of mediocrity.

Oh, and don't pull any Superman 3 or 4 or Returns nonsense with me, because I hate all those movies too. But I still hate Smallville a lot as well. :o

He didn't leave at Season 5, the bromance was interesting because it enhanced the inevitable downfall into enemies and made it all the more tragic when it came to fruition.

I know somebody is clearly trolling when they say Superman III, IV and Returns has any good quality to it at all and I can and I will bring them up.:oldrazz::oldrazz::oldrazz::oldrazz:

Returns was well regarded by critics and respectable filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, so saying it doesn't have any good quality is a major stretch

The first season of Homeboys in Space was better than any season of Smallville.

The plane rescue scene in Returns is one of the best Superman scenes from any show or movie ever.

Honestly, before Man of Steel came out, Returns was my favorite Superman movie (and I know that's an unpopular opinion).

Audience reception says sup

What is Homeboys In Space? Was that an interesting show? Did people give a damn about it?

It was a joke, you see. I was using the extreme example of a really terrible show as a comparison to illustrate just how low my opinion of Smallville is.

The pros of Smallville don't outweigh its long list of cons.

Making Clark a dark and brooding vigilante the season after TDK was released
Lana
2 Jimmy Olsen's
" Doomsday"
" Darksied"
The Blur
Lex being injected with a magical serum that made him lose his memory of the last decade.

The list goes on, those were just my main gripes.

Nope not a troll as my opinion is just as valid as your opinion.

Because it was a soap opera that stayed too far off course with horrid acting and bad plotting and characters. I liked the first 2 seasons but it was a train wreck after that.

Superman 3 and 4 at least had Chris Reeve in them.

Reeve couldn't save those movies for ****... which is exactly what both turned out to be...

I think there are a lot of shows that fit this list, but I'm only going to go on the ones I've watched.

Heroes - No explanation needed.

24 - First season is excellent. No other season was ever able to top that.

Revolution - First few episodes had potential, but by mid-season you could tell it was already working up to be a clunker. It's now over due to be cancelled.

The Mentalist - It just keeps going downhill

Ally McBeal - Gimmicky show where the gimmicks got old by the second season

The Borgias - So much intrigue in the first season, but nothing really after that.

Ugly Betty

Desperate Housewives

Still, it was surprising Doomsday looked like Doomsday.

Also, Lex wasn't even injected, I'm pretty sure Tess just kissed him and with memory wiping lipstick.

Meh. Regardless, the entire Doomsday arc was disappointing. Also, that finale left a bad taste in my mouth. The only cool thing about the finale is that he finally flew. And that had more to do with the fact they ****teased him flying for 10 damn years.

Was Clark wearing the suit in that final episode? I wish I'd had a magnifying glass nearby for those distance shots, but I thought I saw some blue. All the close-up shots were all face.

somehow I have my doubts as to whether Tom Welling actually wore ANY sort or part of a costume in that final ep... I'm thinking camera trickery of a sort...

I think the O.C was a good example of a show that saw a very big high, before taking a steep nosedive into cancellation hell.

I think they slapped Welling's head on Routh's body or something. Then in the shirt-rip scene it's a t-shirt.

Maybe I'm just interpreting this topic wrong but I assumed we were talking about shows that started off strong for a season or two and then went completely downhill. A lot of the shows mentioned here don't really fit that description. X-Files didn't go downhill majorly until around season 7 which is when most shows start going downhill. Lost was strong for 4 seasons (some may even argue 5). 24 really only had about 1 and a half flat out bad seasons (6 and the first half of 8). Seems like a lot of people are just talking about shows that took a complete nosedive after a solid run but that is bound to happen with any show once it passes the 5 season mark. Completely agree on Heroes, Twin Peaks, Glee, Once Upon a Time and the OC though. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. looks like it's headed in that direction as well but at a much faster rate.

Unless it doesn't get some sort of creative reboot, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D could very well end up being discussed on here.

I thought someone had already said Once Upon a Time but I just went back through the thread and can't find it. Regardless, I stand by this choice. Show took a creative nosedive halfway into season 2. Maybe it's recovered but they lost me a while ago.

So, I take it that I was the only one in this thread enjoying the Drew Carey Show then? And also all of the seasons?

Like most fanboys I could go on and on as usual raving about Heroes, Dexter, Smallville (don't get me started on that one, please..) etc etc, but good old Drew Carey never let me down. IMO that is of course.

Or maybe it's the opposite, since noone yet complained, it really was a great show? :o

We all already started ranting about that, so go ahead. :o

I never cared for the Drew Carey Show, to be honest.

Let's continue the Smallville fights as that show is always fun to bash. :o
