Action-Adventure Twister Reboot ‘Twisters’ | Universal Pictures

I would think that not only is Twisters counter programming as it's PG-13 compared to Deadpool's R rating. I would think it will get overflow traffic if Deadpool screenings are sold out and people not wanting to go to a super crowded theater. I'm guessing we'll see a 60-65% drop.

Great soundtrack but 1. I still don't get the need for it to have 29 songs. and 2. Why did they not include the Chris Stapleton song?
This seems to be the case - I checked my local theaters showings for tonight while getting Deadpool tickets and they're all pretty near full-up. I wouldn't be shocked if the drop is under 60%.

Unfortunately didn’t like this one as much as I wanted to. I really love the first one. I think the supporting cast in this one just wasn’t as fun as the one from the first movie.

The romance felt too forced. I never really got why each team was “competing” since Tyler was just about chasing them and I guess making YouTube videos while the other team was trying to get scientific data.

Has this had a delayed release overseas? $275m WW total with only $79m coming from overseas? Or has it just bombed outside of North America?

Yeah that’s weird. It’s about to pass 200M in NA alone. Don’t disaster movies usually blow up overseas? Maybe cause it’s America specific?

Twister made something like $254m internationally according to The Numbers. I wouldn't think the international market would shrink that much. But I'm also just saying this as a regular dude just making conversation and not someone who's knowledgeable about box office trends.

I underestimated its box office potential in North America, I remember saying $180 million was the ceiling. But worldwide, no surprise here. The North America numbers really carried the movie. The worldwide gross is dismal.

I can see this happening to Gladiator 2, strong numbers domestically. And not so much in international markets.

I remember a few people here claiming this was going to bomb hard. :o

I mean it hasn’t made a profit yet. Needs to double the budget which it hasn’t done

Releasing it next week on digital platforms is not a good sign. It hasn’t doubled (310million) its production budget (155million) on worldwide box office and would solely rely on good legs in North America to hit the 300 million mark globally.

It might not have been a "bomb" but I doubt Universal would want to make a sequel that would cost the same as Twisters, if not more.

It may be one of the biggest gaps of North America vs Overseas we've seen in a long time. Usually it's reversed where it bombs in North America but hits overseas (ala Warcraft).

The fact that it's made 200M+ in North America alone means big blockbuster. It also only dropped 35% last weekend. Overseas something didn't connect. They'll probably go ahead with a sequel because of the huge domestic take. But either they're going to try and do international with the third, or lower budget maybe.

I remember the original was big here in the UK. Not quite seeing the same love for the new movie here but really that aligns with my feelings on the movie also.

My mates i saw this with said it was quite forgettable and wouldn't watch again. I personally found it average with no redeeming qualities. The cast was great the plot was " meh " but it lacked something compared to the original. Disaster films in general haven't been quite right since the 90s imo

That decision not to have Kate and Tyler Kiss at the end with all that sexual tension built up through the film may have pleased some fans here but honestly that was not the right decision

I think it was the Tornado's themselves. They just didn't seem scary in the new movie at all. Especially with Tyler driving into the middle of them to shoot fireworks or flares.

Diminished the threat for me. The Tornado's in the original had much more presence and felt like a force to be reckoned with. Didn't get any of that here.

The thing is tornado chasers have similar trucks now where if I remember correctly they didn't when the first movie came out. I'm not saying they drive into tornados and shoot fireworks but they do build trucks to try and get as close as possible. But I agree the tornados had a different feel. I think in the first movie they were almost a character themselves rather they were ment to be or not. But in Twisters they may approach them from too much of a scientific point of view.

The tornadoes in the original were much more ominous, yes - but the effects were way, way better, too. They looked real. Which made their strength much more scary.

The money-shot of the tornado taking out the barn behind the yellow Jeep truck is insane. It not only looks amazing, but it's memorable. I can't think of any shot in the new film that looked this real.

I liked Twisters a lot, though. But I do feel the tornadoes actually looked real and scary in the original. In this new one, it seemed like they tried to not show you the tornado.

I watched both films recently. Nothing in Twister looks "real". It's very fun though. As is Twisters.

Not gonna lie, Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones' charm was more engaging than the action scenes. When they get together the movie lights up.
Although that sequence at night after the rodeo was great, much like the same scene in the first one. There's something much more menacing about a big tornado that you can't really see the size of.
