Two Short Short Films

These are two short films that I have written, and intend to film. Feed back is advised! And when I said short, i meant SHORT lol

FADE IN:

EXT. COURTYARD – DUSK

On a courtyard of a large, Greek styled building, a group of men stand in two lines facing each other. The lines are at least ten feet apart.

Between the two lines stand two men, CARLOS and JAVIER. Both are dressed in formal clothing. They face each other. Javier gulps.

JAVIER (V.O.)
Ten paces. It’s all they give you.

The men slowly bow to each other.

They then slowly turn around, back to back.

JAVIER (V.O.)
That and a weapon…

We pan down on Javier to see a PISTOL in his left hand.

JAVIER (V.O.)
And rarely is that weapon of your
choosing.

INSERT:

CARLOS stands before a table with THREE BOXES. Each box contains a set of pistols. Carlos chooses one of the boxes.

JAVIER (V.O.)
Ten paces and then your death. Ten
steps, point and shoot. Whoever’s
left standing… well… you get it…

A MAN stands in front of one of the lines. His hands are raised.

MAN
Go.
(CONTINUED)
Javier and Carlos both take one step.

JAVIER (V.O.)
One…

Javier and Carlos take another step.

JAVIER (V.O.)
Two…

As they continue their steps…

JAVIER (V.O.)
You’d think that while you take what
is possibly your final ten steps, that
you’d think of your family, friends,
lovers. But that’s not the case…

Javier’s finger slips from the trigger. His hand shakes as he regains calmness.
JAVIER (V.O.)
…All you think about it making sure
you pull the trigger and get out of
the way before your opponent. And if
you miss… well enjoy Heaven.

They take another step.

JAVIER (V.O.)
Eight… Two more.

They take another…

JAVIER (V.O.)
Nine…

They take their final step…

JAVIER (V.O.)
Ten. Now I wait for the signal. And I
die.

The man lowers his hands and shouts…

MAN
SHOOOOOOOT!
(CONTINUED)
Both men turn. Both shoot. We pan out to see CARLOS dead on the ground. Javier falls to the ground and grips his shoulder.

JAVIER (V.O.)
Just a flesh wound… I’d have rather died
though…

As the men rush to both fallen men we…

FADE OUT.

JAVIER (V.O.)
The honor is greater.

This second one I have showed to a few people and they all have different opinions on what the ending means. I have my idea, but others opinions are welcome!

FADE IN.



EXT. STREET – DAY



Two boys, ROBBIE and NEIL walk down a sidewalk that runs along a brick road. Its fall, and there are leaves on the ground.



NEIL

I still can’t believe Melissa got Eliza.



Robbie sighs and shakes his head.



ROBBIE

I don’t understand why you’re so worked

up about it. It’s just a stupid play.



Neil stops and puts a hand on Robbie’s shoulder, stopping him.



NEIL

Okay there are a few things wrong with

that statement. “A”, it’s not a play,

its a musical. And “B” it’s not stupid.



Robbie rolls his eyes and continues walking.



ROBBIE

You’re such a nerd.



Neil follows.



ROBBIE (CON’T)

So when does your brother come home?



Neil finally catches up to Robbie.



NEIL

Not until Thanksgiving.



ROBBIE

Damn that’s still a while off. How’s

your mom holding up now?



NEIL

She’s doing better.

Robbie nods.



ROBBIE

That’s good.



BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!



Robbie looks around. Neil just ignores it.



ROBBIE

What is that?



NEIL

Nothing.



Neil fumbles with his watch and the beeping stops.



ROBBIE

It’s not nothing. Everyday your watch

beeps on our way home from school.



NEIL

Don’t worry about it.



Neil turns onto a small walkway up to a house. Robbie follows.



INT. NEIL’S HOUSE



Neil and Robbie enter a house. They drop their backpacks next to a staircase and walk upstairs.



INT. NEIL’S ROOM



The door to Neil’s bedroom opens and Neil and Robbie enter.



Neil walks the length of the room and sits at a small desk. Robbie sits down on Neil’s bed.



NEIL

Did Smith give you a lot of homework?



Robbie thinks for a moment.



(CONTINUED)

ROBBIE

Yeah know, I don’t know.



The door opens. CHARLES (NEIL’S FATHER) enters.



CHARLES

Neil, who are you talking to?



Neil looks confused. He looks at Robbie, who looks at Charles.



ROBBIE

Charles, it’s me.



NEIL

Dad, its just Robbie…



Charles nods his head.



CHARLES

Oh yes… Robbie…



Robbie gets up, he moves to the door. Charles sits down on Neil’s bed.



ROBBIE

I’ll leave you two alone.



NEIL

No, Robbie you don’t have to go.



Charles looks at his son, and then to the door where Robbie stands.



CHARLES

And how is Robbie today?



ROBBIE

Why don’t you just ask me yourself?





NEIL

Yeah Dad, why don’t you just ask him

yourself?



Charles looks down at the floor, then back up to his son.



(CONTINUED)

CHARLES

Neil, you know I can’t do that.



Robbie looks at Charles and then to Neil, confused.



ROBBIE

What does he mean?



NEIL

I don’t understand.



Charles looks over to a bed side table next to the bed off screen. He brings his hand back into frame, he holds a small pill container. He shakes it.



CHARLES

Have you taken your meds yet?



He shakes it again.



Neil looks at the container. Then to his father, then to Robbie. He looks back at Charles.



NEIL

My meds…



Charles opens the container and shakes a pill out into his palm. He walks over and hands it to his son.



CHARLES

It’s time to say goodbye to Robbie.



Robbie stands at the door, he looks as if he knows something Neil doesn’t.



Neil opens his hand and looks down at the pill.



CHARLES

It’s time for Robbie to go home…



ROBBIE

See ya Neil.



Neil puts the pill in his mouth. He takes a bottle of water from his desk and takes a sip. He looks over to Robbie. Robbie smiles at Neil.

(CONTINUED)

INSERT: NEIL’S EYES.



Robbie stands at the door.



INSERT: NEIL’S EYES. THEY BLINK



Robbie is gone.



Neil looks a little upset.



FADE OUT.



NEIL (O.S.)

Goodbye Robbie.
