UFC Undisputed 2010

Dude, I can't figure out how to pull off a successful submission....

Do the tutorial mate, It was the first thing I did last year & as a result I had an online record of like 100 - 5 in the begining because no one knew howto get out of the mauy thai clinch or the collar tie :D

I did the tutorial this year & it does explain submissions (including a new method excluding shining) seeing as the button mashing has been removed.

Its a good game but the career will take some getting used to, stat decrease is kinda annoying..

I just started playing around with the career mode last night after getting pissed at RDR.

The game is so much more fluid. The CAFs no longer look like plastic Ken dolls, which is great. I made the Idaho equivalent of Keith Jardine. :D

G'n'P is so much more vicious this time around. And the actual process of camp invites and learning moves vs. styles is really, really cool. Stat/skill decay isn't that bad, and it's pretty realistic.

Do we know what Conditioning affects yet? It goes up with Fatigue, but goes down slower.

I always do the tutorials but they didn't explain a whole lot about the submissions. Finding the balance between working the shine and the new charge system takes a lot of work. I just can't seem to figure it out.

and yes, the muay thai clinch/single collar tie is ferocious. I don't play online much, but I've finished 75% of my fights in career mode through single collar attacks against the cage.

About submissions--for example, have you ever done one of those activities in career mode when Rachelle comes by and you have to complete as many submissions as you can in just 2 minutes? Well, I can never do it. I can complete them fine during the regular camp invites, but for these, the guy just never taps and I never change what I've done before (I usually just charge and release).

Eddie ****ing Sanchez just beat my dominating heavyweight? Screw that. DELETE.

That just... hurts me.

I've found a few bugs outside the actual gameplay you should avoid if your doing a career mode.

One of which is, once you get your title shot it seems no matter what level you've set at the start of the career, the champion seems to always be on expert. I was doing a career in welterweight & was easy sailing & I got a rude awakening when I fought GSP.. he fights just like he does in real life, he hits you with a few blows & just when you think your in a brawl he takes you down. It took me FOUR attempts to beat him & I'd set the thing on beginner to get used to the games new positions etc!

Once your the champion though it reverts back to normal & your challengers will be whatever level you've set as I gave GSP the asskicking of a lifetime when he challenged me again. :D

Another bug that is more cosmetic than anything else, basically I had defended the belt a handful of times & it asked me did I want to swap divisions (thus vacating title).. I said yes. I then fought 1 legitimate middleweight & then after I'd beat him I went to pick my next opponent & it was offering me (a new middleweight) welterweight opponents..

You then fight your way back up to GSP or whoever is the WW champion & Bruce Buffer/tale of the tape/weigh ins etc all have you listed as 185, say you weigh 185 but compete in the 170 division.. its quite annoying because I wanted to move upto light heavyweight after middleweight & smash Rashad's face in & use my newly aquired crucifix & Matt Hughes body slam on his ass! :D

The guy is a powerhouse, IRL...He doesn't have much else than that, but in his fights, he's very aggressive and throws with full power. So, in the game, I would suggest not trying to stand up with him directly.

Yeah, but the guy's a no-name in both games, and was nothing but a stepping stone in 2009. It hurts my pride.

Has anyone watched AI fights in the events you're asked to go to during Career Mode? Some weird stuff, man.

GSP is unable to score takedowns on Dustin Hazelett and gets TKO'd. Bisping KTFO'd Anderson Silva in a round and a minute. Demian Maia outstruck and KO'd or TKO'd Wanderlei.

Arguably, there are some bigger no-namers than Eddie Sanchez in the game, but either way he shouldn't really be in the game this year. He hasn't had a UFC fight in about 18 months.

I think his character or likeness was under contract way back when 09 was in development. I guess they weren't willing to waste that money and drop him out of the game.. :p

Luiz Cane has now beaten Lyoto Machida at least three times that I can recall seeing.

Maybe once...

I've mostly used him as a punching bag.. :p

For those people playing Career mode, what have you thought about the different training camps?

So far, I've made three guys: a heavyweight, a middleweight, and a lightweight, though I deleted the lightweight and will have to be starting him over.

My heavyweight has worked primarily with Extreme MMA/Xtreme Couture and with Sityodtong on the side. Extreme has some wonderful stand-up: uppercuts, strong straight, and a guarded hook. I went with Sityodtong mostly just for the elbows at clinch range.

My middleweight is a Greg Jackson and Zahabi kiddie. He's all muay thai, but I made the mistake of taking the Jackson stand-up. The quick Superman punch is about as effective as a regular jab and takes more time to get off. The spinning backfist and back elbow are all flair, and the back elbow is a pain in the butt to land. Zahabi muay thai is demolishing, though. GSP's head kick and a regular muay thai head kick for the other leg.

The lightweight is/was a Pit guy. I wanted to toy with the idea of having a lightweight running around throwing like an in-his-prime Chuck Liddell. It worked pretty damn well, too, lack of range aside. The overhand right is vicious. The long-range Superman punch is vicious. The Pit has a pretty damn good game, all in all. But the quick head kick is a prick to try and land, and in a rage after being unable to learn it in one go, I deleted him, made a taller version of him, and quickly realized that I'd lost the charm of making a lightweight. I wanted a little Frankie Edgar sized dude, not a Kenny Florian sized dude. Bah.

Makes me wonder if I should make Eddie Alvarez on there
Maybe once...

:hehe:I been beating up Mir w/him. Heard that amazon.com was giving the Tapout crew to people who reserved the game. Very slick considering ANYBODY can get them w/a regular code.

Here's what mine looked like. It's pretty much the same formula:

Ditto.

The only real improvement I think they can make for next year is having the walk-outs.

Yeah--that would be awesome, but, I think it could be hard for the developers to get right..

They need to bring back the sweeps from the bottom positions, all too often (in particular online) people take you down & just baby punch you making no attempt to advance their position because they know they cannot end up on the bottom without the bottom guy pulling of a reversal.. its very boring. Practically every online match I've had ends up a wrestling match.

They should just tweek the game, it doesn't need a massive overhaul. The smallest changes to the gameplay will make it very balanced & even more enjoyable.

I can't figure out how to take someone's back to perform that Ultimate Fight mode with Hughes vs. Gracie. I get the mount, and sometimes he rolls to his stomach, but as soon as I start to punch, he rolls right back. Is there a way to manually force the opponent on to their stomach and flatten them out?

I have a feeling that Fabricio Werdum users online are going to quadruple in popularity.. :p
