Superman Returns Ugh! Watched STM then SR....

I don't think Brandon is the problem here. I thought he brought a good balance of acknowledging Reeve's performance and bringing about a new interpretation. I like that Singer didn't make Routh's Clark the same as Reeve's and I agree there are nice touches of Clark disappearing in the background and not being noticed.

Yup .very clever idea. even if personnaly i can't help but feel sorry for Clark being already alone as Superman , and in a way alienating himself even more acting as Clark.

Courageous when you think about it.

Courageous yet sad as that he HAS to do it as well, your right Maze.

Brandons clark does remind of those stalker types to, he waits in the backround and spies on his victim [Lois]withou out her knowing his true intentions. He then spys on her outside her house. Also like alot of stalkers, he has no social life, and seemingly has not many friends.

How was his portrayal more spiritual outside of spreading his arms to a christ-like position?

Because he doesn't stop suffering for the girl he loves or the loneliness he feels. In Superman II Lois was devastated after knowing she won't be able to be with Superman ever. But Clark, well he gives Lois an amnesia kiss and... that's it! fly to Washington, fly to that café to give that bully a lesson, smile to the camera and BAM! Superman doesn't suffer anymore about ****. He can enjoy his own one-dimensionality since every big problem can be erased either reversing time or giving amnesia to people. Deux es machina.

So how does Singer make Superman more complex? By making him a stalker emo who goes flying into the sky crying after he spied and overheard that Lois doesn't love him. Just because Superman was raised in smallville doesn't mean he's a sissy. He still has Jor-El's strong-hearted blood running through his viens.

How is this spiritual?

Because he cares. He won't fly to the space with a smile just like that pretending nothning happenesd just because he deleted memories or reversed time. Dunno if it's spiritual but we're talking about 'more spiritual than.'

For a starter, he cared nothing about Jor-El's strong-hearted **** in Superman TM and certainly didn't care about Krypton laws and his mission in Superman II.

But crying for a woman doesn't make any less of man if you're talking about that.

Ummm...that's Clark Kent in general, not just Brandon's Clark. No one asks how Christopher Reeve's Clark knows where Lois lives, but somehow he does.

Singerman is a stalker... *shudders*

You guys gave me an idea for a Superman Returns video... :yay: "Superman The Stalker" :P Soon on YouTube!

Wasn't it Lester who gave amnesia kisses?

Donner likes to spin the world back and negate the movie until you put it in the DVD again.

I think Routh is a good Superman, not just about being a good Reeve Superman, but as Superman, who has been around before Donner's movies.

lol
Lester gave me one of those kisses and made me forget it.

or How he's always there when she's in trouble. That's what Superman has been doing since 1938.

Brandon's Clark wasn't a disguise as it has been in mostly every interpretation of Superman. And how was Brandon's Superman more "god-like".

Clark is supposed to be clumsy and "unsuperman" so no one will suspect he's Superman. So that makes perfect sense. And I don't understand by what you mean by boy scout "on acid".

Reeves was a better Superman period. The best Brandon could do was imitate legendary performance.

Reeve was a much better actor which is part of the problem here. Weak script mixed with an average actor in the starring role only compounded the problem.

Routh has trouble with timing in dialogue scenes. That was his big faux-pas on OLTL and one of the reasons he was let go.

Unfortunately he did little work in the few years between when OLTL let him go and he got the Superman role. Timing is still a problem for him - watch the bar scene with Jimmy and Clark and you will see what I mean. You did not see a lot of this problem in SR because Singer gave him very little dialog and just short pieces as a rule.

Routh should be out there taking anything he can get now to grow his acting skills for a potential sequel. But he is doing little. Apparently he did turn down a small part in a comedy and a role in a horror flick but IMO he is not in a position to turn things down as they are not knocking his door down offering him major starring roles. He still has a long ways to go in learning his craft and I wish he was more driven to do that - from what I've seen he is not. Like its been a year and a quarter since he finished filming Supes and all he has done is that short with his girlfriend with nothing major lined up that I am aware of.

Yeah. I don't think you'd ever lose your love for Big Blue. Wasn't it you who broke down during your initial viewing of the trailer in a theater?
the first time I saw the teaser trailer on a big screen, yeah, I did break down, but it wasn't the visuals or the scenes that made me break down, it was the music.

Why is SUPERMAN still in love with lois? She's with cyclops(SR) & green arrow (SV),gave Bruce Wayne(TAS) some nooky. Lois is becoming a Hoe, in the DC Universe! :wow: :csad:

She's gotta catch up to Mary Jane, seeing how popular Spidey is these days.
