Ukraine: Their story needs to be heard

What people should remember is that West European countries don't allot a large percentage of their GPD to their militaries, but if they did, they would bury Russia. Germany's GDP alone, exceeds that of Russia, yet Russia spends twice as much as Germany on its military.

Why would any civilised society need to bury another? The last thing this world needs is more weapons. Maybe if the US spent more money on health they could have a health system like Sweden.

It's a figure of speech.

I'm guessing he's thinking of Switzerland. But maybe it does. I don't know **** about watches. Sweden could make great watches for all I know.

Do you have to put them together yourself?

Horology buffs might take them apart and put them back together but you would want some pretty specialist skills on the more difficult complications. I'm sure Sweden May have watch manufacturers but they wouldn't be on a par to Swiss or even German watch makers. The Russians also make some nice stuff.

NATO is apart of the JSF Joint Strike Fighter development aren't they? The F35 is pretty badass.

Whoever bet me that the word "horology" wouldn't ever be used on this thread now owes me $100. :argh:

Yeah, They are not involved with countries airforce I believe.

For example France has the Mirages and Rafales. Germany/UK primarly use the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Panavia Tornado

Just noticed that many countries will be upgrading to the F35 tho. Norway has F-16's which will be upgraded eventually to the F35

Well, that's pride on France's part, but the UK will be getting some F-35's.

Thats why the JSF is a big development. Its a fighter jet used throughout all of the allied forces. It can be maintained and fixed throughout the Allied world because its all made exactly the same.

Go check out Joint Strike Fighter its pretty cool.

The F35 STOVL is the jet The Hulk jumps on in The Avengers.

You know, I do wonder what the Russians (well, Putin, really) think they're accomplishing through all this. Yeah, they get Crimea... but so what?

They already had bases in Crimea. Strategically speaking, it was already theirs. But now they have to take care of all of its people – including a sizable minority who views them as an unwelcome invader and illegitimate ruler.

The Ukraine has been driven into the West's arms, and Sweden, after half a century of neutrality is now seriously talking about joining NATO. Europe is now going to invest more than ever into non-Russian energy sources.

So, flawless victory?

I feel like it was a power play because with Ukraines prime minister fleeing to Russia Putin was afraid he'd lose all of Ukraine to the UN treaties

Guy on CNN said that by having a terrortorial dispute with the Ukraine, that NATO/EU will not take them in, until it gets to the point where Russia can get Ukraine back into their good graces

Well, I would think bringing the Ukraine up to code would be the first priority. Yanukovych's government was notoriously corrupt. He and his cronies embezzled billions of dollars. The Ukraine has a sizable military, but it's reliant almost entirely on antiquated Soviet / Russian equipment. They're just not ready to be part of NATO.

Expect America to sell them a lot of stuff at a discount. Hell, the French might even get in on this.

Still it's a good point. NATO has been reluctant to let Georgia join for that exact reason.

So if I'm Ukraine, If you know you are going to lose Crimea, offically give their blessing to Independant Crimea, and then Join Nato lol
