I'd like to stop reading the ultimate line as I believe that it is destined for destruction as its continuity continues to get more complicated. But with Millar writing that's a tough choice. Ultimate comic avengers is good but the decision to make Red Skull, caps son makes me start thinking. How is this good for the characters? Does it make them grow? I guess with Red Skull we will see but it also makes me wonder what changes you guys like and which you have appalled.

I mean I love Ultimates one and two but Ultimate X-men with the immoral Xavier was friggin annoying.

and to a huge extent the ultimate universe has and is affecting the classic universe.

So I wanna know what have been the good changes and choices in your opinion. And which are the bad?

It's all been bad. Ultimatum ruined the whole damn thing for me and I'll ignore the whole universe until the X-Men and F4 are fixed.

Ultimate universe sucks big time know NOTHING IS GOOD!

well the universe was huge when it first came out

Ultimate Comics: Avengers is Millar's return and it has been very awesome just like Ultimates. Sadly Marvel is still letting Loeb to write on the Ultimate titles, i really hope people will finally ignore his garbage and Marvel realizes to fire Loeb from Ultimate. He can go write his Hulk stuff for all i care! :cmad::cmad:

Sadly, i think the ultimate universe was dying way before Loeb came on board. Loeb was the nail in the coffin. When Marvel starting ignoring the ultimate line and focusing more on the 616 universe is when the line started dying. Marvel at one point just decided that they didnt need it anymore since 616 was firing on all cylinders.

HELL NO! :cmad: You can keep him and get him off the Hulk title.

He's like a bad fruitcake that someone got for Christmas and keeps trying to pass off to someone else...but they won't take it either.

Except people are happily taking him. Ultimatum, his run on The Ultimates, and Hulk have all sold pretty well. He's like comics' version of a reality show; people talk trash about him all the time, but you know plenty of them are still buying his work.

Good point...ok, maybe he's like a hot girl with crabs. Everyone wants to sleep with her, but afterwards everyone needs a shot.

You dont get rid of crabs with a shot.

Anyway, I'm a proud supporter of Loeb. Not so much that he changed everything with Ultimatum - although I've always seen the Ultimate universe as a "lets do whatever the **** we CAN'T in 616!" - but the Rulk kinda stuff. It's just so over the top and ridiculous that I love it. It's big stupid action that isn't some deep plot or anything, like nearly every other comic now a days.

And there are tons of people like me.

The ****? Which alternate universe/timeline are you living where nearly every other comic nowadays has a deep plot:huh:

Nearly every comic I can think of off the top of my head has these huge ongoing book-wide arcs and stories, whereas the only ongoing thing with Rulk is who he is. The rest are just throw-a-way arcs that are in their own little world.

For instance, the entire arc where he goes to the beyonder and gets all kinds of crazy powers. That was in it's own little world. The one where the fem fatele or whatever try to kick his ass for 3 issues, that was in it's own little world. Rulk is a buncha dumb short stories that are filled with action and general ****ting all over the comic industry - which is hilarious to me.

I don't think 'deep' is exactly the proper word for what you meant, but I see what you're saying now.

I just strongly disagree with your points on Loeb, but I've posted my thoughts in other threads and wont go into for the 20th time.

I am pleased you like it though. as are alot of other purchasing customers.

I knew this thread would turn into a "For/Against Loeb" thread. :whatever:

The current Ultimate Spider-Man is pretty good in my opinion. The artist is new and from the opinions I've seen from others it's pretty "hate or tolerate". Ultimate Avengers is good, I'm enjoying it and the artwork is very good.

Hulk has gotten a lot better since Incredible Hulk #600. It's actually a tolerable comic. But I have to agree that after the first arc, the book was horrid.

I"d really like it if someone could like PM Ultimatum in PDF format or something not in a torrent, cause I'd really like to read it. Pretty please :)

Why are people annoyed when the make changes to these characters. The idea here is not to regurgitate the 616 universe history but show in a new way with new paths and new characters. Now that's not to say ignoring the established characterization and damn history of the flippen comic(ultimate origins) that came out to support the pos ultimatum is fine..............

But changes need to be made if it can be good for the story. A character forgetting their own damn history(Magneto) and it being used stupidly to save the day is well........

Yeah, I really don't care that the characters aren't like their regular counterparts. The stories are still good and that is all that matters to me.

And while Ultimatum was a horrible story, I can at the very least understand what they were trying to do. Like kguillou was saying, the Ultimate line was already losing its steam. Mainly I feel because of how large they made the universe. It inflated way too quickly to the point where it was as complex as the regular universe. That and having crappy writers later on. Considering that Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man is better than Ultimate Spider-Man had been in years and Ultimate Comics: Avengers brings back Miller's style, I'd say Ultimatum was pretty successful in getting the Ultimate line back to its roots.
