Ultimate Spider-Man Adventures #1 preview.

That sealed the deal for me. Not buying it. SO painful to read (a donut as part of the character's section, wtf), I want to see what Dan Slott and Ty Templeton could cook up but I can't take Man of Action's writing.

i like how ppl keep arguing the show is just trying to sell toys when the only toys hasbro has revealed that are based off this show is a webshooter

What, four episodes have come out? Wait for it. The ONLY reason Spider-man would have a MOTORCYCLE is to sell a toy.

A.) He's effen SPIDER-MAN. He SWINGS!
B.) He's a 15-16 year old hero who DOESN'T DRIVE.

The fact that he is a KID hero is what makes him appealing. And the fact that he SWINGS is one of the coolest, most thrilling aspects of his characters. And they are giving him a motorcycles to sell an eventual toy.

And the post that said, "Spider-man will emerge as a leader"... THAT'S NOT SPIDER-MAN. He's a rogue, a maverick (not in the Palin sense of the word). He is an outsider in the superhero community.

And I love how it's a show CALLING itself Ultimate Spider-man but in the "Ultimate Spider-man" comic book series it Nick Fury specifically says that S.H.I.E.L.D. has no jurisdiction over Peter Parker until he turns 18. They went with a team based show, again, to sell more toys. Just give me a quality Spidey show with good writing, arcing stories, great villains, humor, fluid animation, realistic situations on the civilian/high school side, and a little bit of heart. If you say that's impossible, I think you know what example I will cite.

Again- this show is pretty brutal, maybe it will change its direction, but it's such a shame that MARVEL had the ball in its court and THIS is the best it could come up with.... disappointing.

I'd rather see the donut as the main character. It seems like the most mature member of the entire cast.

Wow, the show's format translates to comics even worse! The ugly art doesn't help!

To tell you the truth, though, the Free Sampler was far, far worse, it was basically screenshots from the first episode copied in low quality as comic panels. It was ugly and disjointed.

These guys got the wrong character for this show/comic issue... It's definatly Deadpool. Heck, if I imagine Deadpool in place of Spidey and some sort of weapon/gadget supplier instead of SHIELD, I find it somewhat bearable. Even the chibi drawings look better if you imagine it's Deadpool.

Minus the blood.
And the funny dialogue.
And Blind Al.
And the dark traumatizing experience.
Oh well...

haha true lol! :pal::dpf:
Deadpool deserves his own show and I think it would have a bigger following than USM, be even more successful. Only it shouldn't EVER, EVER air in ANY kid channels.
EVER.

"Expensive long toys commercial"

So was the 90s cartoon, and Mighty Max, and Secret Wars (comics), maybe even Ghostbusters & Ninja Turtles cartoons from the 80s.

Can we just enjoy the good in comics and cartoons without thinking of the toys they advertise?

.....but there's nothing good in the USM cartoon to enjoy. :oldrazz:

Only leader of the team of 5, not other heroes that come into it.
I'm sure you knew that though lol.
We'll never know until we see how it plays out.

He's still not a leader of any team. He's a whiner. He's a trouble maker.

The clips I saw so far are pretty funny. It made me chuckle a little. I hope this episode turns out to be good.

He did give them some directions they followed in three episodes

Alright, that doesn't really make him a leader

It's a new take on Spidey. It could turn out good if/when played right.
Lots of superhero adaptations take liberties, some for better, some for worse.
They've each had their fans & critics, that's just the way it goes.
No different for Spidey :yay:

I mean that Spidey is NOT a leader of a team, like, not on the show, but EVER. Spider-man is a rogue. He's a trouble maker. He usually tries to help out the big picture, but gets in the way of the "big boys" or cleans up their mess and throws it in their face. He doesn't "lead" them....

I just love how this Ultimate Spider-man show goes COMPLETELY against the "Ultimate Spider-man" comics and has a pre-18 year old Spider-man working for S.H.I.E.L.D. instead of enjoying his youth, as Fury instructed.

P.S. Just saw the "Venom" episode. AWFUL. Lame origin for the symbiot. Just a bad story. Couple that with the fact that the Ultimate Comics' version of the black suit is one of its most interesting stories and they chose to NOT use it.... let down. HUGE let down. No Eddie Brock? No legacy of his parents' work? No Trask Industries? This show is just too simple and trite. Bad.

You make some very valid points Robin91939.
As much as I'm loving the show, I do wish there were some liberties they could take. I like the episodic nature, but I also love shows with story arcs, to me they're more compelling. If something happens in 1 episode, it could be many episodes later til the arc is continued. I prefer that style of writing.

I would also prefer some of the issues to be adapted straight up. Like people say, it's Ultimate Spider-Man in name only.
I think that's what has peeved most people off, that the title is misleading.
If it was called something like "Spider-Man Team-Up" or something more creative than that lol, I don't think anyone would have that big a problem with the show.
There will be some issues adapted though.

Only time will tell

I'm with Robin91939... I hate what they did here with USM. Marvel got the TV rights to their best character, and they've turned him into an awful joke. What bugs me the most is how the show talks down to the audience and treats the viewers like they're stupid... Even if the intended audience is kids, it's insulting how little the show-runners think of their audience.

On top of that, they've got some seriously bad voice casting in this show. I can't stand Spidey's voice, and the fact that science whiz Peter Parker pronounces words wrong ("Nuclear" pronounced as "nukular" for example). Peter wouldn't do that. Peter's smart-- Scary smart, in fact.

The whole "team" aspect sucks. What they've done to Luke Cage sucks. The fact that the Nova Corps would pick some bratty kid with ego issues to be a member sucks. The Spider-Cycle sucks.

I was really hoping for a show that took place in the same universe as Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and instead I got one that takes place in the same universe as that annoying Teen Titans cartoon.

Spider-Man should never have chibi side-scenes. Never.

Following Danvers directions, they gave Fury that short lived thought of her
"Spider-Man needs schooling"
At least Thor and Iron Man said that cause they thought he's good as a superhero, unlike what Cap and Danvers think of him

Exactly. I would think Marvel can at least make a decent Spider-Man series - one that doesn't have to over explain everything.

THIS is exactly how i feel. But guys just coming here and saying how you dislike the show isn't enough to make marvel fix this thing.

Please leave comments on the facebook pages of the show runners and their twitter accounts. I can guarantee you we can make them fix this pile of crap by season 2 and not screwup the upcoming Avengers in house cartoon:

I guarantee you if each one of us sent these guys what we think about the show, it will be fixed. Marvel is already feeling the heat from ultimate spidey, according to some insider story, but they are hoping we will start hearting the show with more episodes rolling in. Production on season is in its early phases, and they are considering a tone change, but not its not for certain yet. So please send these guys your honest opinions about ultimate spider-man, in a civil manner plz, no need for insults and bad words, and you will see the resuts and the power of the internet and social media.

Sent a request to Loeb and Man of Action to cut down the 4th wall jokes
Doubt they'll listen

Wow, thanks for the links! Hopefully this will get the job done!

what a REALLY arrogant and obnoxious little punkass Peter was today, even MORE so than usual...

a complete disgrace at his lowest and worst as a character today...

Overall, imo, I find this show getting better with each episode. The animation is splendid and I found myself laughing at a few bits. The Living Laser:

Ending up in the Superhero Squad Show

was hilarious.
