I cannot lie, i am very excited for this series, it looks quite good (plus it has Luke Cage and Ironfist!). I still wish they didn't cancel SPECTACULAR but I won't hold that against this show. A Spidey marvel-team up show is ok in my book.

Man...I love the look and animation of the show, but the 4th wall jokes and the random 3rd wheel villains are really killing me. I'll still watch this show, but I am really finding it doubtful that I will love it. I might not even LIKE it.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not really finding this show to be my cup of tea. Doesn't mean anyone else can't enjoy it. I'm happy to hear others are excited for it. There is just a lot going against it right now for me.

The animation looks great in some areas but then it reminds me of anime. I'm not the biggest fan of anime. I just don't find the style to be aesthetically pleasing. So I think that the reminded makes me hate the animation they've chosen for Ultimate Spider-Man.

I also don't like Drake Bell voicing Spider-Man. I just don't think it's a good fit. As many have said, I still plan on giving this show a try. However, I doubt I'm going to like it.

That's reasonable though, it's better than flat out hating the show before an episode has even aired, as some have done; thereby dooming it/hoping it fails.

As I've said before, Batman: The Brave and The Bold was in a similar boat.
The ones who mainly hated that version of Batman were the ones who like "their Batman" extremely dark and serious at all times. And TBATB is one of the best superhero animated shows ever, people are upset at its cancellation to this day!

Well, at least Batman TAS had a very satisfying run. It had like 80 episodes didn't it? Not to mention the fact that it sort of continued in the Justice League and Batman Beyond cartoons as well. Between all of them, Batman's whole story was pretty much told.

109 episodes

I think I'll just watch the 90s Spider-Man series for my Spidey fix.

The series definitely feels like it will have a lot of humor in it

From CBM:

Well, it won’t follow the comic book exactly. The goal really is to show Spider-Man to a new audience and demonstrate to them what’s wonderful about Spider-Man and add a little twist to the story. Something obvious to anyone who’s followed Spider-Man is that there have been many many animated shows. Most of them took the same route: here’s Peter Parker’s origins, and here’s how he got his powers, and he’s got an aunt named May and he’s got Mary Jane … all those things. We decided to amp that up a little bit by giving him much more responsibility — he has that great mantra ‘with great power comes great responsibility’ – so what happens when you give him more responsibility than he’s accustomed to? We introduce him to SHIELD. While SHIELD has been in the Marvel Universe for decades, it’s become something of a character unto itself as this sort of secret spy organization because of the Marvel movies, and I think that it’s only going to get bigger as you see more Marvel movies made over the years. So Peter Parker and Spider-Man are going to be a part of SHIELD, which gives him access to really cool tech. That’s a real twist to the Spider-Man mythos. Most of the tech that you’ve seen with Spidey are his web shooters, or in the comics he was given this sort of iron spider suit by Tony Stark, but it was not something he used on a regular basis. But in the cartoons, Spider-Man will have a lot of really cool toys that he uses, as well as his new teammates.

They obviously have no idea what they're doing. I don't even know if I want to watch the first episode anymore.

I really want to get excited for this show...but it's getting hard.
I'll certainly watch the first and second episodes but I just don't like the idea behind it.

I like Spidey solo in his own adventures with his own villains. All the kiddish stuff isn't the way I like it, either, but I'll still give it a try.

109 episodes that were all above average for the most part, imo. Man, those were the days.....
Just...above....average?
You're not such a huge Batman fan, are you?

Watch past the first two episodes, sometimes 1 & 2 are ridiculously bad and the episodes following them are impressive upgrades

I'm just gonna have to watch the show lookign at it like this:

it's it's own thing, it's not gonna be the typical spidey formula we love in stuff like the semi-overrated 90s series or TSSM. It's gonna be more like "Amazing Friends" Mixed with TSSM, mixed with TEEN TITANS.

Spider-man is a loner. That's actually something a lot of people don't appreciate. Consider this, most heroes have someone who knows their true identity. X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc, are all groups. Even solo heroes, like Superman, have people they can talk to. His parents. Even alleged loner Batman has Alfred.

But Spider-man is the guy who is always alone. And that's what makes him a powerful character. He does it all without any help. Lose that, and you lose a lot of what makes Spider-man Spider-man.

And over 10 sidekicks

except for the fact that Spidey has hand numerous team-ups with other heroes in the past 50 years and is on The Avengers, and the FF teams

The designs looked more conventional (which may be good for people who disliked Spectacular's designs), but the animation (movement) was actually a lot less detailed and intense than in Spectacular. Not to say that there won't be good scenes or whatever, but Spectacular's character designs facilitated amazing animation in every episode. I get the feeling few people (including the creators of this show) really understood the trade off (and what a good idea it was).

I don't have a problem with Spidey being on a team, as long as said team is composed of heroes who (like Spidey) are young heroes who can't join the Avengers or the FF. Spidey doesn't belong on the Avengers or FF. He belongs on a team like the New Warriors. The main problem I have with this new USM team is not that Spidey is on a team, but that Spidey and his team are working for SHIELD. IMO, Spidey and his team working for SHIELD is the stupidest OOC portrayal of Spidey that I have seen in a cartoon. A much better premise of this show would have been to have Spidey and his team working for Silver Sable as her freelance special Wild Pack unit.

And Batman had even more team-ups, was a founding member of the JLA, before that he was in the Superman/Batman team-up, allies himself with the outsiders, etc

Spidey being in Avenger started in 2k4, and being an FF was done last year
