I liked this, but definitely much preferred Good Time.

I saw this with a packed audience this past weekend, some dude in the back row of my theater called it one of “the worst movies I’ve ever seen” yet the guy never left the screening lol I was thoroughly impressed with the film, I agree with most they Good Time is probably the superior film but Sandler’s performance is warranted at least some Oscar buzz, it’s probably one of the best roles he’s had in a long time. The pacing and the score really threw me off though it’s a solid 8/10 for me.

This movie is not a feel good movie where the protagonist outsmarts everyone and makes it out in the end and learns his lesson. So people are going to be uncomfortable with that.

Moreso than that it's a movie with mostly unlikable characters. And not unlikable like IASIP or Arrested Development
And then the movie is mostly just people yelling over people.

It's not surprising that the audience score isn't that high

Yeah I’m trying to think of one “likeable” character. Maybe the wife or girlfriend? All the men were definitely creeps.

It was the wife. KG was pretty likable too imo. So was Judd Hirsch

The gf wasn't all that likable either from what they were showing.

I thought KG was also a little sneaky. Granted he wasn’t as bad as some of the others but he didn’t bring the stone back as agreed. Now I think Demany may have lied and told KG that Howard was cool with him keeping it longer, but KG should have known better.

Bloody hell. I didn't think I had any anxiety issues but watching this almost gave me a panic attack.

Amazing performance by Sandler.

Finally watched this.
"Good Time" was a great movie, but in my opinion the Safdie Brothers one-upped themselves with "Uncut Gems." This was an INCREDIBLE movie. Electrifying and tense, with Adam Sandler (who was robbed of at least a nomination) in the role of a lifetime.
