If The Penguin makes it into Nolan’s Batman world what kind of umbrella would you want him to have? Can’t have The Penguin without an umbrella right?

The reason I liked the old idea of Penguin as an arms dealer was that it'd be conveivable for him to have an umbrella-gun made. He doens't need any whacky hypnotizing umbrellas or umbrella-copters, just a gun disguised as an umbrella.

Anything gun related would be fine. Wouldn't mind a helicopter umbrella, either. Hell, make him an umbrella-themed gadget master and I wouldn't mind at all.

I'm with Mollins, its a weapon that actually exists in the real world and a lot more gentlemently of weapon than any of the others.

I'd rather not see Penguin at all....unless it's in a capacity much like modern comics depict him as. Even then....only as a minor character. He's the one major (at least in the past) Batman villain that I do not like.

Machine gun. There's been enough screen villains already that had swords hidden in umbrellas... It's almost to the point that when you see a gentlemanly rogue with an umbrella or cane, you know he's gonna pull out a sword at some point.

Plus, not that I want to take the "it's not realistic" angle, but how efficient is a sword against Batman anyway? Sure, if Ra's Al Ghul is wielding it, but the Penguin...?

If we get to see Penguin I'd want to see a machine gun umbrella and that's all no laser, or flamethrower or anything else just a simple machine gun.

I want a single shot umbrella that pretty much demolishes the thing after one use. Just for the shock. There's Oswald chatting away, explaining how his mother insisted on him keeping around an umbrella in case he caught pnunomia and then there's a huge explosion. The guy he's talking to is dead and the umbrella is in splinters and bits are on fire.
For all his sophistication The Penguin is still a thug at heart and people like this enjoy their little games so an umbrella gun is perfectly acceptable.
I'd like to have him allude to improving the design, something like "One of these days I'll need more than one bullet".
God, can you imagine a shotgun umbrella?
What I'd like to see though is the umbrella somehow not maintaining its appearance once he starts shooting, I understand why they do it in the comic because it looks good, it's part of his character but I just have this idea of him shooting at people and once he starts throwing away the umbrella to reveal the shotgun he was hiding underneath it.

I may be a minority here, but I dont want him to have an umbrella at all. Id prefer a cane.

I know, I know...the character uses an umbrella. But thats kind of silly, and I would prefer that he just be some short dude that wears a suit and uses a cane.

But it's not silly. It's an important part of his image and backstory. A lot more so than the monocle and top hat I'd say.
