It really sounds like Kate Beckinsale doing the voice over. Why is every one saying that these movies are 'B' movies? I really don't think they are, cuz if you look at the old 'B' movies the special effects on them looks horrible and the acting is bad, these movies aren't that bad, I really liked them all and the effects are cool and the acting is good.

I think Lycans was very B-movie ish and I could've easily seen it being released direct to video. And it should've been since they got rid of the main stars. Probably could've saved even more money that way.

Just saying that's what happens when you do a sequel/prequel thing without the big stars it goes to the video shelf.

I understand why people enjoy the movies. I enjoy the first two Underworld movies.

The movie apparently beat expectations being a second sequel horror/action film and still pulling in #2. Cool news. Hopefully we will see another one before too long.

The production felt and looked just as good as the first two IMO not to mention they didn't get rid of any main stars. All the people returned for their roles and in case you forgot Rhona Mitra wasn't playing the same character as Beckinsale so it's not like she was a recast.

Does anyone remember if that last shot with Beckinsale was the actual footage from the first Underworld or a different take?

How familiar are you with the Underworld series? Not to sound rude, but it doesn't sound like you grasp certain essential details. Like why some vamp's eyes are always blue.

Really? Because last i checked it is grossing about the same as the first. I'd say it is not going to the video bargin bin immediately. I also cannot really understand you liking the second movie but not liking this one. While Evolution had better direction than ROTL and slightly better production values than both other entries in the trilogy, it is easily the weakest of the three with no real story or point. If there is one to criticize that is the one.

I'm not sure how you can say the main stars have left also when Sheen and Nighy, many of whom credit with carrying the first film to any sort of legitimacy, returned for this movie.

I do agree however doing another one without Selene would be a mistake and likely fail. But your reasoning is puzzling.

Personaly I didn't think any of the movie was too dark. I would also like to see more of this story line and if they do a fourth movie I say either have be about Lucian and Kraven or Continue where UE leaves off.

I didn't think it needed to be explained. When he was in his Lycan/wolf form he was able to communicate with them much like real animals in the wild do.

Only difference between the two is he can be human and turn at will while those original lycans are always in beast form.

This movie was awesome! I think it's the best of the series thus far imo. Seeing this film made me realize how much Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen's screen presence was sorely missed in Evolution.

I enjoyed it and it was nice to fill in some blanks from the first two movies. Though I have to say that Sonjas death was a lot better in the first movie and I wish they tried to recreate that scene as much as possible, down to the movements. I can get over the hair color change. And I really wish that they had Kraven in this one since he was suppose to be the "one" who brought down Lucian (who was suppose to be thought to be dead) unless that happens later on down the timeline. And with all of the Lycans running around in the first two movies, I wonder what happened to the full blood Werewolves, did they die? All get hunted down by the DeathDealers? Just playing good at hiding?

And I just realized today that so far we have yet to see any female Lycans. I wonder if there is a reason for that.

But I loved Sonja for the most part and even though it will never happen, would have loved to have a Sonja/Selene fight.

And now Amelia is the only Elder to not have her own movie or play an major part in the film and ofcourse she ended up having the weakest death out of three which is a shame.

Oh and do we know if Vampires age to a certain point and then stop? Since I have been wondering if Sonja was born a vampire or if she was just turned when she came of age?

The Sonja death was the biggest issue I had with this movie I do not know why they just did'n emmulate that scene from the flashback of UW1? Her hair color I got over and did'nt really bother me I'm just 'assuming' it was to get ppl thinking of Celene/Kate to get more ppl to see it??? As most ppl I think really loved Kate as Celene in UW1.
Far as Kraven ya it was further down the timeline and it opens it up for them to retrace that story in another movie if they so choose too.
Far as the pureblood lycans I guess u can go by what they said in UW1 that they hunted the lycans to the near point of extinction.
Female lycans? I can't answer that why they did'nt just was'nt part of the story.
Ameilia ya, she was an elder but I'm guessin not as important to writers story like Vicktor/Marcus. Maybe if they actually do a movie between UW1 and preUW1 they can work her in?

Well if they ever deciede to do another sequel to the prequel, I would say have it partly focus on Amelia and her coven since whats his name most likely woke her next and she was in control for however many years each one rules up to the point of the 1st film.

Amelia is played by a model who has very limited English and is not a very good actress. Hence why she had no lines and just had to look hot/cool in UW1 and had a few lines and just had to look hot/menacing in the prologue of UW2.

They don't use her because for some odd reason she is a fan favorite and they don't want to recast. It is the same reason they recast Sonja, as she was played in the flashback by an eastern European actress who could not speak English and perhaps not really act. That and Rhona Mitra looks a lot like Beckinsale (Mitra having a slightly more athletic look is the biggest difference).

If they do the Lucian/Kraven story they would have to incorporate Selene as she was a vampire at this point. Perhaps begin with her being turned by Viktor and exploring their creepy "father/son" unrequited-love on Selene's side-of-the-story. It also features from the images what looks like the biggest battle in the Underworld mythology which looks like it had thousands of lycans and hundreds of vampires fighting.

The problem with that is:

1) You need to get Beckinsale back, which I doubt is going to happen.
2) The battle would be much bigger (i.e. expensive) than any in UW1 or the prequel.
and
3) The actor who plays Kraven is awful. Did anyone notice that Tannis basically played Kraven's role in UW3? Viktor's treacherous right-hand man, which is how Kraven described himself in UW1 who was there in the few months that followed the event when Viktor turned Selene. He was not in this movie, because the actor who plays Tannis is much better and created a more interesting character than Kraven in UW2.

I say if we can get Beckinsale back, it would very definitely be the last picture she'd do in the series and I'd rather they tell a story that wraps up the Underworld universe. UW2 didn't really solve anything beyond what would happen to hybrid Markus and then stupidly killed off several new interesting characters (Tannis and Corvinus). I'd rather leave the events between the prequel and UW1 to the imagination.

Well they should find some way to expand on Amelia wheather it be in recasting an actress who looks somewhat like her, in giving the model/actress some more lessons, or have a comic mini thats in continuity with the films that explores Amelias run as an Elder. And since all three are now dead, I wonder if any vampires have come to take their places, Vicktor was afterall all ready to make Sonja one some day.

And I am surprised they havent been able to come out with a decent RP game for these films.

Not sure if you remember White Wolf suing Sony because they felt the Underworld concept was too similar to their Masquerade and Apocalypse role playing games. Then again, they we're suing everyone for a while when the whole role playing thing went down the gutter after 2000. I heard they even tried to go after Marvel for the Blade films, because of the whole Vampire Clan crap.

First off I havn't seen UROTL just yet (hopefully this weekend) but I do have a question about where the timeline of how this film fits in around Selene being turned into a Vampire and William being captured and his prison, as I remember after Sonya's death Lucian escapes with her necklace which is the key to Williams prison so wouldn't that imply William has already been captured and imprisoned that would also mean Selene's family has been murdered by Vicktor for building the prison and that Selene should of been turned into a Vampire, I'm saying this because I'm just wondering how you build Williams prison without the key?????

The film takes place after Williams prison, before Selenes turn as a vampire. The whole only one Elder at a time is already in place in this film.

The Underworld movies so far is like the Metal Gear Solid series for me. Underworld is to MGS (the start of the series, you knew there had to be another) as U2 is to MGS2 (The sequel with the weakest story) as U3 is to MGS3 (a prequel interrupting the flow, but its story must be told). There has to be a fourth.

Underworld 3 is definitely my favorite of the series so far. Unlike the second, this one had the perfect balance of lycans and vampires, and unlike the 1st one, you actually got to see those lycans in heavy action. Unlike the 2nd, the story was good (albeit simple) and this movie has so much to parallel the 1st film. Also, unlike both the 1st and the 2nd ones, no mini-Hulk Hybrid (the whole Lycan-dominant Hybrid should have looked so much cooler).

I think with Ameilia have a limited role u could recast her without too much fan lashback. Regardless of ur opinion of the actor who played Kraven I'd still want him back for a sequel to the prequel if they do it. Tannis was Viktors right hand man,whos to say Kraven did'nt come along later and take over Tannis spot after Kravin killed Lucian and Tannis got banned.
Far as getting Beckinsale back? Its possible throw enough money at her and she might do it..Far as CGI for a big battle? That was pretty good CGI with all those Lycans charging the castle...Not sure u need a huge epic battle for Lucian/Kraven it be cool,but not sure its needed.
Far as how UW2 ended I do agree it was pretty weak as the whole movie was okay. I'm not sure what else they could do,but I guess they could come up with some sleepin vampire/lycan in another country or something.

*not to knock on Kraven,but I swore I saw a vampire soldier that looked like what a young kraven would look like...
