Personally I'd like an adaption of Ramses the Damned as it's my all time favorite book. Get someone like Neil Jordan to direct it or David Fincher who can put the creepy/spooky atmosphere into it before they even get to the monstrosities.

I would definitely see that film. I enjoyed that book so much more than her vampire stuff.

Oh yes, and I like her vampire chronicles. The Mummy is very Sir Arthur Conan Doyle but with a lot more sex.

Servant of the Bones is another great one.

For years I've wanted a new Frankenstein film. Something that can capture some of the spirit and essence of Boris Karloff's version and the 1931/35 films but without trying to copy it completely. Return him to being a scary force that's also looking for peace and acceptance. While Van Helsing's version gave a lot of what I want, I'd prefer he not be too smart starting off. Make him a mute that graduates into the speaking world.

I loved the 2010 remake of the Wolf Man and it's honestly one of the few remakes I find to be better than the original. But, it'd still be nice to get a new film. Here's a character that I think would get the most benefit out of a modern telling. Something that adds a new flavor to the mythology and doesn't retread what the original and remake have already done.

And I of course am a fan of Dracula Untold so I have my fingers crossed on a sequel for that. I'm really curious about the Mummy project as well. Aside from Boris Karloff's version I haven't ever been a big fan so I'm interested in seeing if something can be produced to turn that around.

With characters like the Creature from the Black Lagoon, I truthfully don't see audiences caring. Would probably be best to leave them alone. Focus on someone like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Let's get that guy a new movie.

Well, I just plain don't agree with that at all. Then again, I don't trust today's generation of filmmakers to NOT screw it up somehow, which is frankly the real reason I think they should leave well enough alone.

Focus on someone like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Let's get that guy a new movie.

He got one a few years back, and a supporting role in another a couple years after that. Only his name was changed to Bruce Banner.

Seriously, though, I find Jekyll & Hyde kinda redundant if you already have the Wolf Man...or for that matter Frankenstein & the Monster too, since Jekyll & Hyde is almost like a crossbreeding of the two.

Well maybe I'm biased when it comes to the Creature from the Black Lagoon. When compared to the other Monsters, I haven't ever found the concept all that appealing. The same goes for the Invisible Man.

And that's a good point about Jekyll and Hyde but I just love the character so much and with the advent of CGI now I'd love to see a new version that could possibly explore new territory. It could be done.

Creature from the Black Lagoon is the prime one to remake. I think playing into those expectations give the remake an advantage. The monster is more or less iconic than the film itself. It's not known to be as highly esteemed than something like Frankenstien or Dracula or the Wolf Man. I do believe you can make a better film with the remake. A cross between Alien and Lovecraft but has a King Kong like love story at the center which already makes it unique.

Alex Kurtzman says' at the moment his Mummy reboot isn't connected to the Dracula Untold movie and the monsters universe but it might be still. So his movie could be the actual start of the monsters universe.

Alex: The Mummy isn’t connected to Dracula but I think that is an ongoing conversation.

Meh, Dracula was ok and they'd be stupid to do reboot it again so soon. Frankly I'm more excited about the Wolf Man.

Regardless of the box office of Dracula Untold this should be part of their new Monster Cinematic Universe. It was a decent enough flick and clearly is setting up something bigger. Why burn it. If the other Monster films are successful then just treat Dracula as the Hulk of this universe. Have him pop up in other films rather than holding his own.

I disagree about it having been decent enough,it was as mediocre as you can get, and i actualy enjoyed Van Helsing. But with Kurtzman behind the mummy reboot and helping write the other films, i have doubts the next films will be much better. They should just get Guillermo Del Toro to godfather the whole thing, Frankenstein is a passion project of his and he seems to like classic monsters.

I read a long time ago (2000s) that GDT was developing a Creature from the Black Lagoon remake after Peter Jackson passed it over to do King Kong. I'd love to see that get back off the ground.

I got to see Dracula Untold for the first time at the weekend. To be honest I was dreading it after reading about it and hearing from friends and colleagues about it but, you know what? I actually enjoyed it. Give me something like that as opposed to Sommers' Van Helsing any day. If they were to build on Untold and use it as a foundation for a Universal Monsters revival, I wouldn't be too upset and, as Roose says, another reboot as absolutely pointless. Oh, and Roose - also agree on the Wolf-Man [the Del Toro flick had so much promise but the production troubles ultimately took their toll but damn if there isn't some good stuff in there]. The world needs a kick-ass Wolf-Man revival done 100% right this time.

Agreed Dracula Untold was decent. No it wasn't like the previous Dracula wide releases (I'm ignoring the made for TV and straight to video crap) but it was okay. Luke Evan makes a good Dracula. Would love him to pop up at the end of The Mummy.
