USA's ''Shooter''

it WAS a pleasant surprise... an interesting story and a likeable actor portraying Bob Lee...

I FINALLY binged this show on my day off. It's now one of my favorite new shows. I love it.

I thought it was a good first season, Phillipe, Cynthia Adai Robinson and Shantel VanSanten are all really good in their roles and easy to root for, and the action was pretty well shot, the way Quinn from Dexter got taken out was........:shock

Dammit that's Quinn? I knew he looked familiar I just couldn't put my finger on it

Show was cool, not the typical procedural or spy show. Happy to hear season 2 is a go.

Shooter - Season 2 - Patrick Sabongui, Jaina Lee Ortiz & Troy Garity to Recur

Patrick Sabongui (Homeland), Troy Garity (Ballers) and Jaina Lee Ortiz (Rosewood) are set for recurring roles opposite Ryan Phillippe on the second season of USA Network’s breakout drama series Shooter.

Sabongui will play Yusuf Ali, a core member of Swagger’s (Phillippe) original Marine team. Garity is Jeffrey Denning, a seasoned investigative journalist who cares deeply about justice being served. Ortiz will play Angela Tio, a Marine and part of Bob Lee’s former unit. Tio holds her own with the guys and is one of the few people who knows Bob Lee well enough to keep him grounded.

I've been catching up on this show and it is very good. Much better than the movie.

I know the first season had to be postponed due to real life events but I didn't realize season 2 was coming this soon. I was watching the trailer and thinking they had a surprising amount of new footage, only for the July 18th date to pop up, positioning it as a summer show is a good idea IMO.

This looks like a pretty fresh, intriguing and exciting new story, not sure how connected it will be to the first season, I also wonder if it's based off any of the books.

Well the promo after the finale last season said it would be back in July.

The first season was recently added to Netflix. :)

Ryan Phillippe’s Injury To Impact ‘Shooter’ Season 2 Production Schedule

Shooter star Ryan Phillippe broke his leg Sunday in an off-set accident that happened while his USA drama series is still in production on its upcoming second season that premiere tomorrow night, July 18.

“I didn’t injure myself doing a stunt or anywhere near the set of Shooter,” Phillippe wrote in a series of tweets this morning. “I was the victim of a freak accident during a family outing on Sunday. My leg is badly broken & required surgical attention, but I will make a full recovery, am in good hands, and will be back in action soon.”

I have learned that Phillippe, who has been posting the updates from his hospital bed, was not scheduled to work today, so production on the series from Paramount Television and Universal Cable Prods. is going on as scheduled at the moment while the producers are evaluating their plans. Shooter currently is filming the ninth episode of its 10-episode second season.

Saw his Instagram post.... ouch!

I watched the first 2 eps of season 2 last night, fantastic start, I like the new team dynmaic for Swagger and Memphis getting a new job with that shady lady from the first season.

I liked the way they spliced the perspectives in the first part of the 1st ep and then as we got deeper into the flashback's they seemed to be setting up the motive for someone targetting Swagger's team, only for that to be blown up, literally.

So far Sokolov has made a formibale enemy for Swagger and I love the addition of Jaina Lee Ortiz as Tio. It also looks like Julie is going to suffer with PTSD, which is an interesting angle to explore with her.

Apparently there is only 8 episodes this season (due to Ryan breaking his leg)

EXCLUSIVE: The current second season of USA Network’s drama series Shooter will consist of eight episodes instead of the originally ordered ten.

The trim stems from the off-set injury suffered by series star Ryan Phillippe who broke his leg on July 16. At the time, Shooter was in the midst of filming the ninth episode of its 10-episode second season. While production went on for a bit without Phillippe, it has since been shut down. And USA, along with the series producing companies Paramount TV and Universal Cable Prods., have since made a decision to only air the completed episodes, with Episode 8 serving as a Season 2 finale.

“Our priority is Ryan’s recovery, and after conversations with our partners at USA and UCP we’ve decided that we will wrap S2 with episode 208, Paramount TV said in a statement to Deadline.

Sources said that there is a natural story point in episode 208 that works as a season finale, and, while this was not the original plan, the producers, network and studio are happy with the way the Season 2 story would wrap.

Shooter Renewed for (Bigger) Season 3

In Season 3, which will be based loosely on Black Light (the second book in the Bob Lee Swagger series by Stephen Hunter), Bob Lee (played by Philippe) struggles to put an end to the events of Season 2. As he does so, a nemesis reveals mysterious details surrounding his father Earl’s death, leading the retired sniper towards a startling conspiracy that hits close to home.

I expected it to be a slightly bigger season 3, if only to be able to fully finish the artificially shortened Season 2.
