I'm going to start my Jr. Research Paper and my teacher reccomended we get one of these to easily transport things from school to home. I have been meaning to get one so I figure I might as well spend the extra money on a 1-2GB one instead of a cheaper, smaller one.
My sister has a 1GB Cruzer Mini which I borrowed and was satisfied with, but I was wondering if there is anything better.

If anyone has any reccomendations, let me know.

There basically all the same.
I have a
256MB SanDisk Cruzer Mini
1GB Memorex flash drive
2GB Monstor Drive
and they all work great.

Have you considered external 2.5" hard disk drives? It runs on USB.

Better value for money but it's bulky of course and not as reliable as flash drives because it has moving parts, so if you drop 'em, pray that it's still readable.

Personally, I've grown attached to my portable hard disk drive.

I need a flash drive b/c of it's small and easy to bring to and from school. I am considering an external hard drive though.

I got the cheapest 128MB one available, it was by some random generic brand, and I have no complaints.

Crucial.com sells some nice little usb flash drives that have good quality.

I carry around a portable harddrive. It's basically a harddrive for the laptop housed in a protective shell. It's connected to the PC via USB.

Since it's actually a harddrive for the laptop, It's made to withstand reasonable impact. But for added peace of mind, I keep mine in a padded pouch.

The capacity is far greater than a flash drive and carries a far better value-for-money price tag.

Granted, doesn't really fit in your pocket, but hey.

for college i use a 128mb mikomi. tiny, cheap all i need

I have a 128 mb dell Flash that I carry around for school.

But for work I've got a 30gb portable, laptop external harddrive.

If you're looking for something portable, then you need a flash. As for size it all depends on what you're going to be using it for. I use mine as a basic transporter to transport papers, pictures or assignments from one computer to another. With my size I never run out of room because I'm always emptying it out.

If you'll be storing the majority of your files on it I'd suggest a larger size. If you're backing up all your files then get a portable external HD.

However you seem set on a Flash so I'd suggest going for one with storage around mid-range. As for a brand, there isn't any particular one that stands out.
