Sequels venom in the amazing spiderman

Cool story broski

anyways I think my short list of potential for venom is now:

1.Tom Hardy (616 influence)
2.Ryan Hurst (616 influence)
3.Aaron Paul (ultimate influence)
4.Alan Ritchon (616 influence)

Obviously a 616 style brock is my preference. Ritchson is sort of a toss up for me, I'd like to see how he does in a serious role with dark undertones because I can't recall seeing him in any roles like that.

thanks broski that's why i told it

is ultimate venom supposed to be scrawnier as a person? what does he look like venomized? super bulky? if that's what it is i wouldn't that that at all. 616 venom all the way

I won't pretend to be an expert on the ultimate series, because I'm not. I'mma take my angry Brock with no childhood connection to Parker, but rivals with having his life basically destroyed by Parker/Spider-Man. But I love TAS explanation of the symbiote. While 616 Brock's motivation has had to be reworked several times to make more sense, it's still always had this sense of intensity that the Ultimate version just lacked. It didn't help that the actual character was a cypher that lacked the menace of his 616 counterpart. Not a fan of Ultimate Venom at all. In my opinion the ultimate universe has ruined a lot of origins.

I just treat everything ultimate as an elseworlds type story. 616 Brock is the best way truly bring venom onto the big screen.

I myself am one of the people that want to see Venom/Brock done right. Topher was okay, but he wasn't Brock. For several reasons.

Agreed, hopefully they can find someone who we can see a reluctant villain and a reluctant hero. Tom Hardy just fits so well in that type of role.

Without a doubt. Tatum has easily been the worst part of a lot of movies imo.

I just think there's a bias of hate for tatum for some reason. It's gotta be the pretty boy persona.

It has nothing to do with the pretty boy persona. Jensen Ackles could easily fall in the same category, but he also has the ideal look, size, and voice to make an awesome Brock. Tatum not so much.

a lot of people truly think he's a mediocre actor
because honestly I could give two ****s how pretty or ugly he is. I think he's a cool guy off screen but that doesn't make up for him being a mediocre actor.

Ackles has actually been a long time favorite of mine, can't believe I forgot to add him to my list.

Hardy
Ackles
hurst
Paul
Ritchson

in that order.

I think whoever plays Brock will either be an older and established actor, or a young up-and-comer. That seems to be the trend in these films. Almost every actor over the age of 40 in both movies has been a veteran. None of the younger actors were big names when they were first cast, but were still proven critically. I doubt we'll see Aaron Paul, because he's too recognizable, to the point of being embedded in pop culture. My girlfriend never watched an episode of BB and knows who he is. I can write "BB" and you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Michael Pitt for Eddie Brock. He fits the aesthetic of the younger actors we've seen, is credible without being overly popular, and has proven he can make you root for the villain. He's traditionally handsome, but in a threatening sorta way that I think works for the character and plays well against Garfield's boy next door sorta charm.

If they go older, I'm going with Matthew McConaughey. His career is on fire right now and he isn't locked down to any franchises yet. Not just that, but his name would be an immediate draw and instill faith with a lot of hesitant viewers over whether or not the Spider-Man and Venom films are quality (they'll need this after TASM2's reception). He's got leading man written all over him and anyone that's seen True Detective knows he can make creepy/obsessive/paranoid actually likable characteristics.

Those are my educated guesses. I expect to be made king of all future Venom threads when I am proven correct.

He can't make a single line believable. Dude also has that air-headed look.

Whoever's playing Brock has to be able to act simple as that.

Completely agreed. Even though gi joe was a bad movie, it could've been salvaged if tatum wasn't there mangling every line he delivered.

He just needs to stick to comedies and romance.

I still stand by A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints as proof that he can act. He's the kind of actor that's as good as his director.

I would love to see Venom again but in reality it is too early. We fans want to see him but from the general audience perspective Venom was in a movie not long ago. Also I think Spider-Man having the black suit first is the only good way to tell the story but it has been done already. It is too early to tell the same story and have the black suit on the movie posters again. I don't want to see the Ultimate version.

If we see Venom again he should look like this and the symbiote should feel more lively that it did in Spider-Man 3.

Tom Hardy for Venom!

I might be alone here, but I don't like that choice. Once I see an actor in one superhero flick I can never look at them the same in a different one. Especially if the movie was recent.

I agree. I really did enjoy this movie, didn't expect much, but it was a phenomenal character piece and the actors were all brilliant. Plus, his new film, Foxcatcher, with a crazy, creepy-looking Steve Carell looks like it'll be an amazing film (I can already see Carell getting a Best Actor award for the role just from the short teaser they released).

With the way these films have been going so far, dividing critics and audiences alike, I think that their best bet is to revamp Venom. Spider-Man 3 had the highest opening weekend record for the Spider-Man franchise for a reason, the reason being that Venom looked absolutely amazing in the marketing/advertising campaigns. The revamped Venom will be Sony's saving grace for this Spidey franchise, just as it was the nail-in-the-coffin for the previous Raimi trilogy of films.

The fact that he was wearing a mask the entire time in The Dark Knight Rises further solidifies why he's the perfect candidate to be cast in a new Marvel movie. At least it isn't as crazy as casting Chris Evans as Human Torch and then Captain America, as if that worked out. :wow: DC had a chance with him, and they killed him. Now let Marvel have their shot and I believe that a great film will be ahead of us. If I had to suggest a director for a solo Venom film, I'd say get the guy who directed Hardy in Warrior, Gavin O'Connor, I think he'd make an amazing film.

I thought it was the best of the three, but it felt incomplete. There was more that could've been done. I think they should've dropped Venom to tighten up the story. If they had slowed his progression down a bit it would've been better, and it was decent as is. I just feel like they were close to having a better movie, and it just didn't work out.

I find a 5'9" Venom difficult to imagine being the threat he's portrayed as.

The symbiote itself could easily increase his height to above 6 feet when Eddie becomes Venom. The character doesn't need to be tall, he's just as much a threat at 5'9" as he would be at 6'7".

I don't understand why people even bother bringing up an actor's actual height with respect to the character he's playing. That's such an easy fix it's ridiculous, even more so when we've already seen camera trickery work for said actor in the past.

Brock himself is 6'3" and 260. It makes for a better story if he's the beast he is in the comics pre-symbiote.

While the Alien storyline is the one closest to my heart and the one I grew up with, I would imagine they would do the Amazing storyline in which the suit was made to cure diseases/cancer. Not just to separate itself from the Raimi movies, but because it would make more sense in this universe, with everything starting at Oscorp.

I don't know if they could get away with introducing Eddie as another close friend from the past, considering he hasn't been mentioned in the first two. Considering they gave "that" backstory to Harry (being best friends since they were kids), I doubt they'll give it to Eddie as well.
