Yeah, seeing rorschach walk was cool I guess, but it did not do anything for me.
The art of watchmen was decidedly nothing spectacular, it looks like a standard comic book.

On the most superficial level? Yes. However, the amount of detail and story in each panel is unrivaled among Watchmen's peers. That's what this was about. Not that it would look just like the comic, but that it was aiming for the same visual grammar and content.

I would hardly say Gibbons' art wasn't spectacular and i would disagree with the statement that it looks like a conventional comic book too.

I agree with Sandman138. What's spectacular about the art in Watchmen is that nothing is stylized. Nothing really looks overblown and flashy or even comic booky for that matter. Everything looks real. None of the heroes are musclebound freaks. They're just normal people that you could see in every day life(except Doc Manhattan, of course). And the art itself is really simple, and that's what makes it so spectacular. But the coloring tells you everything isn't real. Nothing is natural, but it is.

I'd like to imagine that the movie would try to capture that, but being as how this film is going to also serve as a commentary on superhero MOVIES as apposed to comics, that might get lost, but perhaps it will just add another layer of complexity to what is already a complex work.

I don't know why that excites me more than seeing Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach. I think it's knowing that Dan really does look like an unapologetically realistic chubby guy in his late 40's early 50's gives me a rush.

Yeah, he even looks chubbier than in the book. I wonder how it'll look, because that can't be his own body. Must be a suit, so I hope the facial make-up is top-notch and wont be a distraction.

My guess is it'll be the effects and creating Dr. Manhattan. I also hope we get a video blog for each character eventually, talking about their casting, and the character themselves.

I'd prefer the Comic Con footage on the 6th, but chances are we're never going to see that footage until months from now if at all, since (I guess) it's supposed to be exclusive to Comic Con.
