Laurie (I hope...) Cast?!

Considering that Laurie starts off as a kid as gradually grows into adulthood i'd say it would be a good thing to cast someone who looks so young.
It's much easier to make someone look older with make/up or not doing excercise ( i.e. letting yourself go) then making someone look younger.

With X3 we know that the technology is there do make actors look younger but honestly why go to such a time consuming not to mention EXPENSIVE process when make up will do the job.

And please people we have no idea just what kind of reading this girl gave so i really wouldn't begin to claim "OMG bad actress" based on her previous work.
Remember that Tom Hanks played an idiot in Bachelor Party which is the equiavalent of watching Kelso of that 70's show in action.
And then he went on to make films like Ryan .
So yeah

And it took about 10 years for Hanks to go from Bossom Buddies to Oscar winner.

She may do well but we'll just have to wait.

Exactly. And not immediatly go on a rampage claiming OMG Snyder sucks balls etc . Sucks for everyone who didn''t get the actor/actress they were hoping for but it's equally ******ed to say this movie is doomed just cause they didn't get their casting.
It rarely happens that an actor immediatly makes an award winninhg impression. MOst good actors began with crap and slowly went and got better roles.

She has my vote I mean Laurie was really just a chick who got naked had sex with two guys and was always sexy. This actress can take off her clothes has a great body and I'm sure can act sexy and constantly in the mood for sex and attention.

She can wear Silk Spectre outfit and she can swoon Night Owl and Doc Manhatten. I'm sure she can play a young horny girl who went after the blue guy and an older hornier attention deprived woman going after Night Owl.

I really didn't see much more to her character then that in the graphic novel. I mean really the scene that explains Silk Spectres character the best. Is in the end of the book when New York has been bombed and millions have died.

What does Laurie want..... What does The Great Silk Spectre want....all she wanted was Sex. All she wanted, after the horror she and they just witnessed was for Night Owl to hold her and have sex with her right there on the floor.

Sure as sh it they had sex right there on the floor in Ozymandias Lair. So she could feel alive and feel the good things about life, so she could forget the horror of death. Laurie also wanted it in the Owl Ship when her and Owl put on their costumes again for the first time in a long time.

So really I don't know if the character is unimportant or boring but really the actress being cast DOES NOT have to be a great actress. I'm sure Ackerman can be hot, sexy, naked, horny, needy, sultry, spontaneous and lastly... bi tchy(about her dad & rorschach)

Ackerman should do fine because Laurie is pretty one dimensional in the real world. In the comic world maybe the character was more 3 dimensional but I think thats only because we never EVER saw a comic book woman be so real about nudity and sex. She was not the normal Mary Jane so to speak.

Honestly after watching Zak Snyder casting choices for Dawn of the Dead and 300. This casting doesn't surprise me at all and both casts for those movies did an excellent job. Look at Gerard Butler and Lena Headey..... I mean did anyone know them before 300???

Now their both Hollywood "IT" people, in the sense that if you see Gerard Butler or Lena Headey in another movie, not only will you recognize them, but they may be starring in that movie as the lead man or woman.

Especially Lena Headey she came from doing movies just like Ackerman as far as low budget nudity cameo films. I think Lenas acting or maybe Zaks directing of her in 300. Made you feel this woman was strong and sexy. Aswell as a loving, sensible, wife and mother, like a Queen should be.

I say Give Ackerman and Zak a chance on his casting choices. In my mind he's earned it with Dawn of the Dead and 300.

Eh. I think people could really stop belittling Laurie (the character)... she's an important character with quite a bit of depth... not the messed-up sort of depth we get with most of the other characters, but she's a fairly well-adjusted, intelligent person, and it will hurt the movie if Ackerman is only there are eye-candy.

Her relationships with Blue Beetle and Atom Man just have to be believeable.

She doesn't have to have an out of the ballpark performance... she just needs to convey Laurie's utter normalcy... and be convincingly angry.

Well they both were in a movie called Little Children. Which Haley and Wilson became noticeable stars in. Haley was even nominated for an Oscar.

I'm sure that movie led to Zak persuing them both but maybe it was even more wise on his part then we think. If you consider that the two central characters in Watchmen are best friends/teamates who have become separated and cold.

I haven't seen Little Children yet but from what I know Haley plays a pedophile and Wilson plays a guy cheating on his wife. Both become neighbors and some stuff happens.

I never even heard of this movie but I'm going to watch it just because I want to see what Zak saw in the relationship of Wilson and Haley in this movie that made him cast them.

Zak had to have seen something maybe a smart move on his part we will see.
