I meant in terms of the character. Bale said that Wayne's trying to find a way for Batman to end so that he can get on with his life. I'm waiting for the backlash of OMGZ Wayne's committed to being Batman, he would never question it like that, this is so wrong, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, I know the kind of person you're talking about, and I'm surprised that they haven't already been in here, foaming at the mouth over it. Personally? I think it suits the character perfectly. I'm reminded of the Batman: TAS episode "The Trial", where Gotham's new DA intends to take Batman down, until the lunatics at Arkham break free and capture both her and Batman. Once she sees what they're truly capable of, she changes her tune, but tells Batman, "But I'm still going to work towards a city that doesn't need Batman." To which Batman replies, "Me too."

I've always interpreted his mission to be about creating a Gotham where what happened to him as a child wouldn't ever happen to anyone else. Obviously, if that mission is accomplished (either by himself, or by someone like Harvey Dent), then there's no need for Batman any longer.

Awesome interview, and I never thought I'd say this but I'm actually looking forward to the new terminator movie now that I know he'll be in it. That and the how I've heard it would end is awesome as well.

Yeah, his accent is weird there. I've heard his regular accent and his American one, but it's almost as if he's trying to sound Australian there.

Great post. But i also think that as the crusade goes on and on, the more Bruce gets lost in Batman. At some point, i dont think that he can let batman go anymore. Probably not the BTAS Batman or Nolan's, but if you look at the comic books nowadays, there hardly is any Bruce Wayne. And thats also down to the fact that the writers dont want to spend time on him. A Batman comic book nowadays is more about cheap geekgasms about Batman's superiority and his bad manners.

That's pretty much what Bruce seemed to believe in the Year One era (though I don't think its actually mentioned in Year One itself). The Long Halloween and either Monster Men or Mad Monk (maybe both?) all have moments where he talks about the end of the mission being near, that with help its something he can accomplish, though it obviously never turned out that way.

I think you guys are confusing the "posh" IE "The Queen" type of Brittish accent, and the typical London AR accent. I think he has the typical guy in London accent.

Think of it this way, the AR accent adds "r"s to things, like how in the US we might say "DraWing a picture" they would say "DrawRing a picture." As opposed to the posh accent which drops the "r"s... in the US we might say "What on EaRth aRe you doing?" the Queen would say "What on Eaath aaah you doing?"
