that image is from dreamwaves generation 1 comic books, i think it was a cover or promotinal material, but either way, that kicks ass, totally awesome. have you seen this pic of optimus?

now if they went with something like this design for the tformers, i would be totally happy

well, if i had to put my money on a fight against that optimus and bays optimus, i'd put my money on the that g1 optimus, but i don't hate bays, but i think that one looks more..... i dunno, more like a hero? a leader? he looks commanding and i think thats what bays lacks, but i don't hate it. and i think that shockwave would own all other transformers lol

this is a little off topic, but did anyone read the ww2 transformer comics with the gi joe? i think that would have made a kickass first transformers movie.

For some reason, I agree with what you are saying, the G1 Optimus in that pic looks more heroic than Bays Version. IMO, Bays version looks somewhat like a drone, i dunno, its like i could see an army of those versions, they dont have a distinct look that indicates that he is a leader

i like bays optimus too, but no where near on the level i like the g1 optimus, or atleast the one i posted, the g1 has a look to him that bays lacks, bays looks cool but thats about as far as it goes

i think bays looks cooler honestly, but he doesn't look heroic to me, but this is just me and i'm not bashing bays design either, as i've stated i think it looks awesome, but i do prefer the g1 look. if that optimus was hot rod then i think it'd be a great look, better than the original look for him, but not optimus.

The first one is freaking awesome, I see the how he does look more heroic and it makes me wish Bay's optimus had the same paint job.

The second looks like total s***, they need to keep designs like that out of the movies.
