Vince Vaughn Will Fight a ‘Brawl in Cell 99’ for ‘Bone Tomahawk’ Director S. Craig Zahler
Zahler’s script centers on a former boxer (Vaughn) whose life is crumbling: He loses his job as an auto mechanic and his troubled marriage is about to expire. At this crossroads in his life, he feels that he has no better option than to work for an old buddy as a drug courier. This vocation improves his situation until the day he finds himself in a gunfight between a group of police officers and his own ruthless allies. When the smoke clears, the man finds himself in prison in a no-win situation as his enemies force him to commit acts of violence that turn the place into a savage battleground.

Not only does the idea sound meh to me but Vince Vaughn starring in it makes it an instant pass.

Nice! I loved Bone Tomahawk, so I'm all in for this one.

Vince can be scary when he wanna.

The muscles line is immediately suspended any fraction of realism this movie was going for.

I read a review saying it is "an ultra-violent grindhouse romp" and that Vaughn plays the part very well.

Vince Vaughn is fantastic in 'Brawl in Cell Block 99'. Crowd screamed a number of times at the brutal violence depicted on screen. #TIFF17

I loved this. Vaughn was so damn good and his character is bordering on damn near supernatural. :funny:

It's definitely not shy in it's gore and I see this becoming a cult classic.

Wish I could see this on the big screen. Alas, its receiving a very limited release in the US.

The movie was a slow build.

I enjoyed Vince Vaughn's witty southern brawler Joseph. His character's physical strength remained me of Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin on Daredevil. He gets hit and seems barely fazed sometimes and his strength is almost super human.

The violence in the second half of the film is so over the top that it almost reaches The Story Of Ricky O ridiculousness.

The movie also had a bit of a Blaxpolitation vibe even though the main character is white.
